I disagree. Solid intellectual background, good work ethic have nothing to do with creativity, nor do they lay a "basis" for it. From personal experience, I have know so many who have those attributes, but are just participants in the system. Sure, they excel, and are successful people, but devoid of creativity entirely. In fact you can argue, people who are successful inside the system because they have the attributes you mentioned, are the least motivated to challenge the status quo. They have much to lose.

I don't believe creativity can be taught. Not now, not ever. Although everyone can be creative to an extent, you must have the drive to spend time and effort thinking about what's in front of you, and how to creatively change that. Most people are interested in being participants, and not willing to put the extra mental effort to go beyond this. Some however enjoy the creative process more so than participating.

Yeah I think Airbnb would be a great alternate to expensive luxury hotels. From what I have seen, even some hotels seem to post listing at comparable prices here. Ultimately its really up to you what kind of honeymoon you like. Do you want one where you get room service, and other hotel luxuries at your beck and call, or do you want to be left alone and handle everything yourself. In my view, the best of both worlds would be one of these beach front villas, with a private beach, and hiring a butler for the stay so you don't have to worry about having service.

My biggest gripe with this is that when the truth finally comes out, it gets no attention. The perceptions that changed rapidly from "toyota = safety" to "toyota = death" will be slow to switch back. It will take years, although Toyota has done a good job marketing themselves since the incident.

Yes but it is one thing if a small startup does it, and its another if a giant like Microsoft does it. In a way its applying a double standard, but i think Microsoft has enough money to invest is innovating in search space. Ultimately you can't really prove its illegal, so its a matter of ethics. Strangely we would all encourage a startup to copy what it can, so it can focus on the core innovation and not be bogged down, but we look down on Microsoft. Why is that?

This is actually a clever way to spread the word. I only say this because it got me excited to sign up. By hanging the carrot of "being one of the first to be invited" you tap into the human psyche. You start a pseudo competition for who gets to be invited first. This abstract promise can be a powerful motivator for some, and you only need some to start spreading the word before the snowball effect.

Is there an open source code for this? I'd like to do this for my startup. It would be ideal if we could save time from having to build it.

Why not just wait and see what its all about before we knock it down? It could be a revolutionary new way of sharing experiences. I for one am optimistic.

Yes, Quicksilver is a great replacement for Spotlight Search. It indexes very fast, and it is very powerful for mundane and time consuming tasks such as moving files from one folder to another, or quickly compressing and email files. All can be achieved at lightning fast speeds with just a few keystrokes. I almost always launch apps with Quicksilver.

Take it from someone who has pounded the pavement doing sales for my previous start-up, selling online lunch ordering service to restaurant owners, there is a lot of merit to what the parent's and grand parent's comments. You would be surprised how much many people despise technology. I think its because many of them were early adopters for various tech services sold to them by slick salesmen in the early days of software, and were then burned by how expensive and complicated it all was. They are now skeptical So yes you would need a stellar sales team, which I'm sure you will get. I love the idea by the way, and I do think there is a lot of scope. Best of luck!

Why limit the thought to simply monetary transactions? What about communications with other types devices. Inventory management at warehouses, package sorting by shipping companies, communication with other consumer devices. Your phone will become the data hub. New business models can be derived... the possibilities are endless.
