Can you mention any examples? I'm keen to know. I personally don't use any such tools. I also agree that building any products in the DevOps space where many people are passionate about their DIY solutions is usually not a good idea.

Do you see any room for automation?

With DoTenX, you can build complex event-driven solutions with no/low-code.

Always there is competition, but are you willing to use such a service if the pricing is reasonable?

There are very basic solutions or some solutions that target only enterprises with hefty bills.

Also, clearly nothing has been good enough that everyone knows about it or uses it.

It's definitely a lot more than just a lift and shift.

The companies are really struggling with managing their costs on cloud.

So far we haven't dealt with a single customer, from individuals to enterprise companies, who has been using their cloud resources even relatively efficiently.

Yup, but you need visibility, specially with categorisation (based on tags, environments, applications), trends and predictions.

Without this it's a tedious, suboptimal job.

What makes you think it's going to be more complicated if you use ECS behind the scene?

What if I tell you I have a service that is able to do that it takes away all the complexities. You literally need no understanding of the underlying services, you just benefit from its flexibility, and simplicity.

Well to be clear, my question was to provide the service on your own AWS account. This way, you'll have access to all those extra services whenever you need them, and at the same time you can benefit from all the simplicity of such a PaaS experience.

The service connects to your AWS account and builds stuff for you in your own account, if it makes sense.

Yup, providing same experience as Heroku on AWS.

The reason being it's a lot cheaper (almost by 10 fold in some cases), and easy integration with services like SQS/SNS.

So, who do you think benefits from such a service?

The main services you use to host your applications, and the core components you need in pretty much every application.

This can mean hosting static websites, applications on ECS, EKS, database, and Redis. Also it includes all the necessary underlying networking set up.

The rest of services are usually provided in their simplest possible form anyway.

Well, I was thinking more like a platform that simplifies using your AWS account for you.

I know that different people/teams might have different requirements, and simple means different things to them. I'm just trying to understand how much it can be helpful for people to provide such a service.

We're working on a solution to gives you an experience like Heroku on AWS without breaking the bank, and I'm pretty sure we won't be the only one working on such a solution.

Flexibility of cloud and simplicity and convenience of services like what we're building will boost the speed massively, plus you'll never be concerned about outgrowing the solution as everything is built on top of AWS.

It's not fashionable, and it adds real value, but it's definitely costly because you have to spend on operations. I'm working on a solution to gives you an experience like Heroku on AWS without breaking the bank.

Heroku *was* fantastic, but for some reason it just stayed where it was for years.

Cloud has almost completely replaced the old datacenters however still the teams are spending a lot of time and money on managing it.

Heroku solved the problem very well for years but it's very costly and limiting at the same time.

Now it's time to replace Heroku with services that help you use the cloud providers which leads to substantial cost savings.
