Arron grew up in house on the beach in Homer, Alaska. Homer hosts a diverse population of 4000 fisherman, oil patch workers and artists. His family's modest home had no running water, Arron had to run and get it. Summers were spent as a deckhand on his family's commercial fishing boat; and winters were divided between school, cross-country skiing and teaching himself how to write code. In 2000 he moved to the Lower 48 to study math, computer science and cultural anthropology at Western Washington University. A few bad fishing seasons forced him to start his own business in 2002. Arron's firsthand experience being raised in a small community, combined with his intense interest in computer science and cultural studies provided much of the initial inspiration for Villij.com.

Ben is a 19-year old entrepreneur whose blog has been a huge inspiration to me in my startup efforts.

It is important that a startup understands the technology they are working with. But, it is equally important that they understand the cultural context of that technology. This video does a good job at addressing the anthropologically side of web 2.0.
