Usually, mid-size to large tech companies have two career paths. Engineer to Principal OR Engineer to Engineering Manager. Some firms have people like technical leads. First, you want to decide on what path to choose. Both are quite different.

It's a pleasure to work with dark matter developers. I have worked with quite a few. They are not even on LinkedIn. They are quite productive, focused & get work done in 6-7 hours. They go home & enjoy time with their kids. On weekends they play poker with friends who are also dark matter professionals.

Not my experience. I was working on my clothing startup with initial investment of about ~$30,000 USD.

INDIA - Met at least 12-15 manufactures in India (medium to large scale, $1m ARR to $50m ARR). Only a 1-2 of these had any catalogs or samples of different fabric compositions. Most wanted an advance to kick-start the process. Sampling was a total failure with three of these.

CHINA - Contacted about 10 manufactures in China via Alibaba. Each one of them had a very detailed catalog of anywhere in between 10-50 fabric compositions. Shipped to my home in a week for just $100.

It was Peru where I got the garments manufactured. It did cost me about 20-30% more but it was very satisfactory.

We have been writing software for decades. Still majority of the software engineers are only good at copy & paste. Things are actually getting worse as most answers you can google, when you can't they are just stuck.

It's not about being advanced. It's about keeping promises & being honest. It might take a whole generation to fix this.

I am an entrepreneur & a small business owner in India. I did a small manufacturing in China & was blown away by their professionalism. The article mentions - `Chinese suppliers had a totally different attitude, aiming to exceed the Cupertino company’s expectations` - this is so true.

In India, most manufacturing companies or businesses are trying to sell what they have or can produce (without any attention to detail). As a result, false promises & contracts are prevalent. There are no SOP's or any organized sampling process in most Indian companies vs Chinese who keep everything very formal & organized.

I never visited China & the manufacturing went perfect. In India, I personally visited the factories & still could not get the job done. All samples were rejected. Lost money & most importantly time. It's a damn mess. People seriously lack work ethic.

I call myself full stack because I can -

1. Write sql, work with databases & nosql stuff.

2. Work with server side code in C# & nodejs. Read from some data source & built API’s.

3. Create a usable product in React / React Native / NextJS / Vanilla JS making use of those API’s.

4. I can make wireframes, design stuff in illustrator/photoshop.

In general I think people who can built complete products end to end are full stack developers.

Welcome to entrepreneurship. Dealing with humans is difficult in general. Plus you are dealing with some pissed off customers. Even harder. This is what you can try -

1. See things from customers POV.

2. Maybe you’re not willing to accept what is built is not perfect & have issues. Once you're self aware it will help manage issues better. You need to move from denial to acceptance phase.

3. Our brains are wired to be defensive. Try to acknowledge or trigger whenever you’re defensive. Hard to explain but it’s like anytime you get defensive an inner force tells you YOU ARE BEING DEFENSIVE.

4. Best way to deal with an angry customer is just to agree with them initially, this will calm them a little & from there you can have a more productive conversation.

I don't understand what's the objective here. Banning these apps will have 0 or little financial impact on China. This seems more like a publicity stunt. Banning Alibaba would have been a bold move.

There is no such thing as ABSOLUTELY right. We don't even know what's actually going on at higher levels in the government. Why isn't Alibaba & AliExpress banned?

I have a conspiracy theory here. Alibaba & AliExpress are missing in that banned list. This seems more like a direct hit on ByteDance rather than China.

Facebook recently invested in Reliance Jio. There have been other investments from Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners etc.

TikTok is a big threat to FB, Instagram & YouTube. ByteDance apps TikTok, Vigo Video, Helo have around 300 million users in India. Facebook user base is 280 million. ByteDance had more apps planned for this year.

Banning BD is a big win for Facebook & Reliance. Government also get's to score a few points in this coronavirus mess.

I personally feel just having an option to disable the cards on issuance would have been more productive. This kind of a feature is not obvious. How would banks educate customers on this? Quite a lot of rural/semi-urban people do not use netbanking or app based banking. They will need to submit a physical form to enable this. More paperwork. Quite inefficient overall & more hassle for end users.

We might have a cure to most diseases available to all or only a few would be able to afford good healthcare & rest will have shorter lifespans.

Economic inequality would increase manifolds. There will be less poverty but a whole lot of people struggling for basic healthcare & jobs.

My early years were in a big outsourcing firm & man everything was delayed & over budget. 3 months of development became 9 months. Projects promised in 6 months took 1 year of development. Projects with older technologies like VB - which worked quite well, code was clean were rewritten for no benefit whatsoever. These rewrites were sold by marketing people. People were overbilled everywhere.

Glad I left the Indian corporate scene & started working remotely. Now I run a small remote QA team for an international firm at 30-40% less cost & delivering at least 2x times these corporate giants.

Duplicate/Counterfeit books are rampant here on Amazon India. Return/Replacement also results in a fake. Usually, publishers have special Indian edition prints but these fakes have $ prices & a sticker that hides this with an Rs price. This is quite easy to check but no-one is checking for counterfeit's on Amazon.

Yeah, I do feel the same. We are a country wherein 90's we used to steal cable tv subscription by hijacking antennas. I have done it myself. I see so many people (while travelling in metro) viewing horrible cam rips of latest movies. Majority still don't care about quality. Free always beats quality here.

Very less. Piracy is still rampant. I find it quite common people viewing cam rips on their mobile. Theatres are expensive in metros. I do feel this is a good move by Netflix. Local content is a problem though. Let's see how this pans out.

I travel in the metro quite regularly, I see 30-50% of passengers consuming some sort of video content on their phones. There is demand for sure. Only time can tell if this new plan really helps Netflix getting more paid subscribers.
