As AI continues to transform how we create all kinds of content, Vibe Coding - or more broadly, Vibe Creation - is enabling new ways of working and lifestyles.
Vibe Friends and GeekBang initiated this survey at the end of 2025 to capture a real snapshot of China's Vibe ecosystem this year. We also hope to continue this survey over the coming years to document how Vibe creation and its ecosystem evolve.

In my work, the bigger bottleneck to productivity is that very few people can correctly articulate requirements.
Totally agree. I’ve tried to explain this in many places: AI coding (and creative tools in general) will ultimately remain tools. Only people who can clearly and thoughtfully articulate requirements will be able to fully leverage them.
Another hot take: the “one-person company.” Headcount isn’t the key variable. With AI, the real constraint is how well you can understand a problem and clearly define a solution.
- If a problem can be clearly defined and fully understood by one person, then one person is enough to solve it.
- If a problem is more complex and requires two fundamentally different areas of expertise, then it will likely take two capable people to solve it—no more, no less.
I’ve been working on an idea wishpool.
Anyone can post an idea for something they wish existed — an app, a game, a tool, or anything else — and share it. When more people back an idea, it gains momentum and starts getting built, either by AI or by community makers. The goal is to turn crowd energy into real progress.
Definitely, this kind of processes will be AI-driven completely
Knowledge isn’t knowledge in itself — it’s about how people organize it.
With more AI tools mining existing knowledge and presenting it in increasingly accessible ways, I don’t think AI search fundamentally changes how information and knowledge are organized.
Of course, AI could reshape the organization of knowledge through areas like:
1. Fact-checking and sourcing
2. Drafting new pages
3. Editing and refining wording

Just like Wikipedia already has many bots running behind the scenes, if all these tasks were eventually handled by AI, there would still be things left for humans (or perhaps another AI) to decide:
1. When a fact has multiple perspectives, how should it be phrased to represent different viewpoints fairly?
I still remember countless word battles on Wikipedia over this.
2. In the age of smartphones and social media, historical moments are documented not only by journalists or influencers but by thousands — even millions — of ordinary people. How should Wikipedia process and summarize such vast, distributed facts?
3. How do we properly incentivize contributors, whether human or AI?
Wikipedia was born in an era when the Internet lacked reliable information, and building a shared, sustainable, independent knowledge base was a mission that resonated with its early contributors — traffic rewards came later.
4. And of course, geopolitics — Wikipedia must remain independent.

AI is undeniably empowering and accelerating almost everything—faster, faster, faster. But what comes next for us, as regular human beings?
Still, grounding ourselves in nature—touching grass, watching sunsets, hiking, cycling—remains essential to our well-being.
I got some hot cash several years ago unintentionally. After that, I set up 3 goals:
1. Maintain high quality life
2. Improve skills for my career
3. Meet more interesting friends
With these three goals, I did these:
1. Maintain high quality life
1.1. I bought myself a lot of insurance, both financial and life
1.2. One nice apartment
1.3. Put about 20% to some low risk fund
2.1. Best keyboard, chairs and ... as a developer

2.3. Donate some open source projects and make friends with contributors
3.1. Host regular meetups of great developers in China
3.2. Go to a nice gym as I find people who work out hard and keep self-discipline are normally class-a players
3.3. Get much more opportunities when focusing on what's next than what you're paidBTW, the company has acquired many popular user-data-content apps and companies worldwide, while few of them were exposed.
Toutiao is more than just a news aggregation app, it's a huge interest mining and data recommendation system. Moreover, the company expands its services to mobile video sharing platform and many other fields so as to collect more dimensional data of users. --- In my opinion, ByteDance is a data/intelligence company and Toutiao is just a great app to adopt the technology and grow fast. So, we look forward to seeing an even brighter future of it, which might be able to leverage the market.
There is one important spot the article misses to mention is its extremely great usability among different groups of people. People who are young or old, well-educated or poor, artistic or professional use WeChat as a communication tool.
Unlike many other apps who concentrate on serving young people, business people or colleagues, WeChat is the ultimate solution for me to talk with my classmates, my parents or even a courier who I just meet 3-minutes ago. This makes it stand out from just an app working above the operating system, but a common solution people on mobile just like phone call or messages. This makes WeChat special.

There is a very popular word in China - 网红. The meaning is a person who has millions of followers online. They might be singers, movie stars and celebrities. And one portion of them belong to 公知 who spread their opinions about the society and social affairs. Normally, they study in top university all over the word and have many shining titles.
Because of the low price of labor, China grows faster than almost any other economic parties. On the contrary, Chinese economy faces a great challenge if the average price of labor increases even for a little bit. Meanwhile, the crazy development of cities / railways / factories also lead to serious environmental and social problems.
It's not about the favor but young people miss their school life in US or Europe. And for those who haven't been to other countries, they just think it's a fashion
I studied in western countries since undergraduate and came back to Beijing, my hometown, after my graduation from Cambridge. It was surprisingly simple to adapt to the current Beijing culture as everything has been changed towards American and western style. We have H&M, Zara and Uniqlo everywhere and we eat pancakes, waffles and Full British Breakfast for brunch during the weekend morning.
Although, my family is quite old-fashioned and most of my middle school classmates stay in Siheyuan 四合院 when they were children. People living in Beijing and other modern cities in China have changed a lot because of the explosion of Internet. By 2000, the Internet was free without the Great Firewall so I could search on Google, read news on CNN and even met some friends on reddit. Then, we tried so hard to find resources of American/British TV series, movies and many TV programs. At that time, American dream was somehow another formation of Chinese dream, to study abroad.
Young people like me who study abroad for several years are very common in Beijing and Shanghai now. We enjoy the great opportunities to work in China while still miss our school life in US so we want more western-style restaurants, bars, gyms and even apartments. There was a Harvard meetup I attended where people spoke in English even though 90 percent of them were Chinese. Then, we tried so hard to find resources to overpass the Great Firewall in order to use Instgram, Facebook and Whatsapp.
But lately, I find out that these young people start to complain about Beijing and they feel uncomfortable about this crowded city. People are everywhere and you can hardly find a place to be quite and peaceful unless it's expensive. Although these young people have excellent background, they always find themselves helpless to work in such a business market with no fixed rules. Then, we tried so hard to find resources to learn how to survive here and forget everything learned abroad.
As China has grown stronger and stronger, the young generation has no preference between mainland and Hong Kong / Taiwan or even western countries and they were told to have their Chinese Dreams. But, we still have many many things to learn from the success of western societies in the last several decades otherwise China will fail quickly.
Honestly, all the ideas explained in this article have been richly used in China. The excitement and extensive usage of groups with nearly all of your classmates, colleagues, families, random meetups and occasional affairs. You probably will find it noisy when you have to manage tens of groups and hundreds of users in each group. Then, the app is not only for tight connections but weak connections in business and personal interests. This is what happened with WeChat 2 years ago.

I have been waiting for this for quite a long time. Before this new app is released, I was using SimplyStats which is simple but easy-to-use.
Ya, I read this book in a spare afternoon several weeks ago. Most developers can skip the background/introduction chapters but jump directly to the core (but the basics) of d3.js library.
The author has clearly explained how people misunderstand this library because of the fancy sample list. Moreover, d3 is more likely a data abstraction layer rather than a graphics or plotting tool. It gives an interface to represent the data by SVG graphical components.

As a foreign student studying at UK, the cultural difference is exceedingly scary for me at first glance, like the food names, clothings codes and behavior manners. I enjoyed life at Berkeley, while my life here at Cambridge is a big step for me.
However, I have found several hints that may help you understand why you need someone to chat with.
1. As a foreigner, being involved in a community or a small group of friends makes you feel safe.
2. Introversion is not an excuse for being alone, rather, it is a personality that you may enjoy being alone.
3. For those people who have poorer English than you, like me, can have close friends to chat with. What you really need is to target small and expand your social life gradually. (just like a startup)
4. Last but not least, having two or three close friends who understand you and support you is much more valuable than saying hello to everyone in a large party. Check your contact and find them! Ask them for a drink! Playing games together!

I have been searching for such a library for quite a long time. It looks very neat. I really like the idea of DataView on top of a DataSet as it can be used to define different perspectives of the data.
Those animations and swags on the website are totally useless and anti-informatic!
