By the way I would hardly characterise myself as being 'on a tilt' in my post, I simply stated that mastodon was x.com but for the other side. Perhaps you are on a tilt and anyone level-headed appears as tilted?

I started an X account recently and the posts they put into my feed were the most intensely negative tweets and imagery I've ever seen interspersed with sports shit I also could not block. It didn't matter how many times I tried to block a certain kind of content another account posting the exact same thing would be in the feed. I didn't want to see basketball, Hitlerism, political tweets or Gaza gore yet that is all I was shown. I deactivated my account and checked out mastodon instead and the signup screen for that was blatantly censorious and would be like using twitter with annoying leftists instead. Where the hell do normal people hang out online to have a chat?

Imagining the kind of stuff swirling around the average twitter/mastodon users head is unreal. There must be radicalism beyond measure just beneath the surface ready to blow for every sort of group all across the world.

I would consider treadmills known to exist as early as 4000BC as an early step towards bicycles. Commonly used for grinding wheat or moving water - possibly even cranes. There both gearing and leg power interact - just gotta apply the force to a set of four wheels and you're halfway there.

Pretty interesting. If you look on netflix approved camera list[0] there are none from Nikon. Personally I think RED cameras are overhyped and are a major reason most netflix shows all look and feel the same. I don't think its the colour grading or lenses - its something about the camera itself that just feels shit and doesn't give me the same access to a scene the same way something like sony's HDVS from 30 years ago does.[1]

I bought a copy of TASCHEN's "The Elements of Euclid" with illustrations by Oliver Byrne from his book in 1847. As I was working through a lot of the later problems I could see myself causing these sorts of errors due to a skill issue. For example as I dragged the pencil vertically down a ruler the wooden side of the pencil (above the lead) rested on the ruler. As I dragged the pencil down my arm lowered and my wrist changed orientation so that the lead of the pencil was now resting against the ruler as I completed the line. It was honestly so frustrating to see the corners and arcs of my diagram look like abstract dog shit because I was too much of a dumbass to use a ruler correctly.

I always personally thought the principal source of microplastics was polyester (polyethylene terephthalate). I most often see it linked to plastic bags and containers instead. I personally went from -3.0 diopters to almost 20/20 vision. So either I'm experiencing a fabulous placebo or the 'known mechanisms' aren't as comprehensive as we've been led to believe.

Chronic fatigue syndrome seems like a rebrand for ye olde neurasthenia. I have to wonder why 'hysteria' didn't get the PR treatment considering it is the other pole of neurasthenia. It really is the same sort of collection of symptoms under a large umbrella.

Neurasthenia was considered to be a result of lower processes (intake and transformation of food) becoming too demanding for the upper processes (respiration). The upper organisation was thought to be reaching its conclusion before it fully balanced nourishment with respiration. Excessive independence of the metabolic processes from the upper organisation of respiration were thought to bring about ‘hysteria’ - neurasthenia's polar opposite.

Please don't downvote because I don't mean this post as a snarky jab or justification of pseudo-science - I just have to wonder why if you're going to have such an encompassing definition of something like CFS, why would you then dig around in the mud of cellular automata instead of looking at overarching qualities as some did in the late 19th century? It seems to me that you either need to confront the definition or work on the same level as it.

That is a good tip. Many people doing this will run into another silent youtube change, which is higher resolution options for older videos are completely removed. Some videos I have in my saved playlists marked 'HD 1080p' now only have a maximum resolution of 240p. Very sad.
