I've used a simple wordpress wiki theme called "KnowHow" for a lot of clients, if you're looking for an easy-on-the-eyes setup that's easy to maintain. I've used it for small business's sites and I've also used it to set up an internal KB for a nation-wide shoe retailer while working in their IT dept... with a couple tweaks and plugins you can setup some pretty decent workflows and approval steps for authoring.

Do you have any other work in your portfolio -- perhaps showing some frontend work? Github is a little bare. We're an early-stage startup looking for a frontend dev to built out our prototype.
It won't play at all. I'm using click to flash safari extension, and generally when there is any issue with the HTML5 player I'll right click and enable flash, but right click is disabled.
While the UI is fine for mobile/touch, it's not really optimized for desktop use.
It's an interesting idea though, do you have any plans for expansion on this?
Video won't play at all on Safari 8.0.4, it gets caught up loading HTML5 player. Works fine on Chrome though.
Are all the video files hosted through YouTube? How would you handle pulling videos from two sources (YouTube + 2nd source)?

When I was a freshman in high school, I spent a lot of time building custom PCs for friend's parents to make some extra cash on the side. An issue I ran into early was I never budgeted for the cost of Windows XP Pro so I was left either telling them their order would cost an additional $200+ or use a hacked/stolen/whatever key. I decided that neither was the most opportune option. "The Art of Deception" by Kevin Mitnick was one of my favorite books at the time, and using some of the knowledge gained from that, I found a loophole in Microsofts phone-tree that allowed me access to a high-tier representative. I then came up with a few clever and elaborate scenarios and ended up receiving over $5000 worth of Windows XP Pro keys without ever paying a cent...or buying an initial copy for that matter.
I've been having nightmares using oDesk as of late. Almost every job I post is 95% bots and when I try to bid on jobs it's difficult to cut through the noise when developers are working for $5-10/hr.
My biggest issue with oDesk though is the language barriers (on both client/freelancer sides). I really wish there would be more accountability for this...
My thoughts exactly. That does seem crazy, especially if that $75k is in AUD, which is roughly $57,800 USD...
What skills do you have? Possibly looking for an engineer/cofounder for a media/streaming startup out of the Chicago area.
I'd stick with Wordpress. Find a template you like, it'll be worth the $40-60 to not have to constantly support a custom app for something like blogging.
Could you describe a little more about what exactly you're looking for in a "community person"?

Funny, I was trying to buy this domain a few days ago. I am planning an strikingly similar site/idea. I was thinking of approaching it in a slightly different manner but like the idea of having "planned trips." I would love to chat with you further if you'd be willing to.
Here are some things I noticed after looking through it for a few minutes:
- I would plan on using something other than Wix to host your site for starters (at least I hope you have something else planned...anytime I see a Wix site, 99.9% of the time I immediately leave)
- There are some grammatical errors and typos on your About section
- I've never really been a fan of black page backgrounds as I kind of find the site a little difficult to look at. Specifically the dark homepage slider image. I would come up with a different color palette, maybe something that uses some blues, whites and orange...
- Or at least change the font color to one easier to read, purple on black has always seemed problematic to me. (I've been looking at Proxima Nova font a lot lately see: https://typekit.com/fonts/proxima-nova)
- The boxes that have "X days," throughout the entire site, are off center, which is strange to look at
- Also, when you look at a trip (for example the NYC one) you lose the footer for the site.
Do you plan on having user accounts? The site copy doesn't explain how those trips/places to see go from the user to the site. Having user accounts would seem to bring all sorts of benefits to both the company and user - being able to save/favorite certain locations, maybe even add reviews on popular spots...though my immediate worry would be nothing more than an specially organized yelp.
Since there only appears to be two test trips to see - does this create trips based off of location & travel time? Like, if I want to go to NYC for 4 days, is that the only level of input from the user? The site copy says "pick a plan that works for you" but there aren't any additional filter/input layers.
For example, if I want to go to NYC for 3 days. I want to be able to say: I want to go to NYC for 3 days, am staying at "X" and only want to walk (or input a travel radius...) and want to see "X, Y, Z" (perhaps restaurants, tourist attractions, museums, etc) <-- this is where building a user profile that has some personal "taste" options would also be an added benefit.
How are you integrating with Google Maps?
Anyway, I could go on for a long time about this as it's something I've been starting to piece together a plan for...let me know if you'd like to chat further or want me to be more specific with the few things I pointed out.
