I'm currently using Fluxxor[1] which reifies the Flux architecture with Stores and a central dispatcher. I did some research into Backbone.Model bindings but eventually decided to go "full Flux". I've yet to regret my decision even though my app has grown quite complex.

The best part is, thanks to React & Flux I'm building a large scale web app without jQuery for the first time in my life :)

Coincidentally, we just launched an improved version of our GitHub analytics app with hourly page view charts. We also show rankings by country and language for all repos (not just the top 25 ones).

You might want to check it out if you're interested in finding out why your project is trending: https://bitdeli.com/

Gmail's spam filter definitely seems to be erring on the aggressive side nowadays. I honestly can't remember when any real spam last reached my inbox. On the other hand, I did find many other false positives while going through the spam folder, mainly from newsletters and social notifications I really have subscribed to.

I guess the least we can do is help Google tune their filters and periodically mark all false positives as "not spam".

I've been a happy Sidebar subscriber from day one and I always browse through the weekly links. Thanks Sacha!

A quick anecdote: While reading this article I noticed that I don't remember getting my referral link from Sidebar. I searched my Gmail for "in:spam sidebar" and there it was - the only Sidebar email which Gmail has ever flagged as spam.

I know MailChimp has tools for testing the spamminess of a campaign and this message probably passed all of them since there's nothing particularly spammy about it. Maybe it was random or maybe the referral link was just enough to trigger the spam filter in (my) Gmail.

If the open rate for the MailChimp campaign wasn't particularly low spam filtering wasn't probably a significant factor in the overall conversion rate.

I assume the text on the Kickstarter page is written by her mother - she used the first-person viewpoint to enhance the narrative. You can read the same paragraph with a 3rd person viewpoint and it makes more sense ("since she's 9 she's starting with RPG maker...").

Regarding your second point: It would be a great move by the parents to donate most of the pledges to a charity for kids'/women's/STEM education. I don't know what Kickstarter's stance on this would be though.

I have spent many hour-long train commutes entranced by Super Hexagon. The game is really really hard, but the fast-paced sessions and minimalistic controls are very well suited for the mobile form factor.

Hi Jonas! You might be interested in our Mixpanel integration: At Bitdeli, you can create all the segments and metrics you need by running custom analytics scripts for all your raw historical data from Mixpanel - all without changes to your current setup.

http://bitdeli.com

We like to think our approach as best of both worlds: Get the beautiful interface and intuitive functionality Mixpanel provides with the ability to answer the occasional hard questions about your data.

Feel free to drop me a line at jyri@bitdeli.com and we can help you get started!

Great news! I've been using Recon.io for a couple of months now and found the alerting functionality really useful. It's basically Google Alerts for Twitter: just enter your product/company name and have one less feed to worry about.

Their database of journalists is also quite valuable already. I've entered "analytics" as the industry keyword and I get a couple of alerts every week for similar product launches covered by well known journalists.

In the future I'd love to see more history and aggregates on the dashboard (now only shows tweets from the last 7 days).

Hi Paul, I'm a big fan of Geckoboard - in some circles, your name is almost analogous for a dashboard :)

Getting to over 2500 signups in four months is definitely a great achievement, but I think it would be more interesting to hear about getting to 100 daily active users for example. After all, signups are not worth much if the users don't keep using the service (I'm sure this was not a problem in your case though).

I know there are a lot of generic blog posts and SaaS services for maximizing customer engagement, but reading real stories from founders is always uniquely inspiring.

Bitdeli co-founder here. We have missed GitHub's traffic graphs ever since they were removed and we know we're not alone[1]. That's why we decided to offer a free Bitdeli account to anyone who wants to find out who is viewing their repos.

The free account also works as a "sandbox tier" since you can try out all our features for custom analytics with familiar data from your repos.

Thanks to everyone who suggested this earlier[2]!

We'll definitely set up a public gallery of all the analytics widgets at some point. Since all the visualizations are produced by our Python scripts, you can check our documentation for all the available widget types:

https://bitdeli.com/docs/python-widgets.html

You can also see a preview of all our analytics templates on our GitHub account:

https://github.com/bitdeli

When you sign up, you can use any of these analytics scripts with your data with just a couple of clicks - no coding needed to get started.

The YouTube mobile site is quite decent, but for me not having a real fullscreen mode for watching videos is a big issue compared to native apps.

The YouTube mobile site doesn't have the apple-mobile-web-app-capable meta tag and thus displays the address bar even if placed as a shortcut on the home screen.

Thanks for the tip, giving it a try now!

This brings out another issue: The accuracy of search results in the App Store. When searching for "youtube" (sorted by relevance), these apps are listed before "Jasmine - YouTube Client":

- Video Downloader Super Lite

- SoundHound

- SloPro - 60fps Slow Motion Video

- Trololo Sounds (yes, really)

Also being an Android user, I'm used to going through quite a lot of noise when finding the right app though. Let's hope the situation will improve in both stores soon.

I agree, being an early adopter always means that you should prepare yourself for issues. However:

> Developers will move over their apps. Any major bugs will be found and shook out.

Wasn't this why the iOS6 beta versions were released months before the final release? Now that iOS6 is officially released, Apple is encouraging all users to update and there are quite many average Joes and Janes who don't read the tech press and these warnings. These users are the ones that face the most confusion if something is missing or changed (YouTube, Maps).

Since I installed the update as soon it was available, I don't have first-hand experience of when users are prompted to update. Based on previous experience and some update guides[1], the prompt will appear automatically when connecting to iTunes.

[1] http://ipad.about.com/od/iPad_Guide/ss/How-To-Upgrade-To-iOS...

tl;dr: iOS6 makes YouTube disappear, no solution for iPad yet

I updated my 3rd gen iPad to iOS6 immediately when the update came out since I wanted to check out if the increase in JavaScript performance is noticeable (it is).

However, here's why I regret updating: I've been using the iPad as a second screen on my desk to watch YouTube. After the update, I find that the YouTube icon is missing from its usual place on the home screen. After a quick app store and Google search I find out the truth: Not only there isn't an official iPad-optimized YouTube app anymore, but also that it has the disappointing release date of "in the coming months" [1].

I know the actual reason for the missing YouTube app has something to do with the licensing deals between Google and Apple, but as a generally happy Apple customer my perception is that this "update" makes my life harder.

Divshot 14 years ago

Here's the same output in CSSDeck for a more convenient preview:

http://cssdeck.com/labs/vsjc8abl/0

Aside from some empty class attributes and extra div wrappers, the markup is really close to what I'd write by hand. Great work with the export!

EDIT: Oh, sorry - this isn't the same output as mbleigh posted. Mine is the tutorial page from Divshot when you first log in.

On GNex/Chrome the page just shows a flat low-res panorama and a "flash not supported" message.

Apparently 360Cities uses[1] krpano[2], a HTML5 panorama viewer on iOS devices. I tried a gyroscope example from the krpano page[3] on my GNex but it was rather buggy (jumpy and unreliable panning, only parts of the panorama visible at a time).

It seems that the fragmentation of Android devices/browsers has proven problematic for the 360cities developers. Since the krpano viewer might only work on a fraction of Android devices I can understand dropping the support for interactive viewing completely.

Hey Jori, thanks for writing this!

I especially agree with having a real in-app page for gathering feedback. When we were building Flowdock, one of the best things early on was giving the users the simplest possible tool for giving feedback: a single text field (just like you have). Even though this is a little more work than just having a team@... email link, it does have some great benefits:

- Full control on where the feedback gets sent and who/what gets notified (requires some backend code of course)

- Easy for the user, no extra logins or weird popups

- You can send extra information like the browser's user agent string along with the message to help resolve some issues

PS: The last link in the article ("follow me on Kippt") should link to https://kippt.com/jorilallo :)

I briefly considered switching to Google Drive when it was released. I copied all the files in my Dropbox (57GB) to the GDrive folder and waited for everything to sync.

After syncing, the GDrive client constantly used almost 500MB (yes, 0.5GB) of memory while Dropbox was always under 50MB (Windows 7)[1]. That's a huge deal for a program that's supposed to be always running.

Also, the GDrive client often crashed while syncing and had problems syncing some weirdly named files that Dropbox handled perfectly.

I hope GDrive gets over these issues soon, since they have some cool features (e.g. webapp integration, content-based image indexing).
