2023 was a pivotal year for consumer crypto.

Dive into our report, where we unwrap everything that went down in the consumer crypto landscape in 2023 — the major events, trends, and innovations that painted the picture.

Some highlights:

1. 9 leading blockchains contributed 3.26B transactions with a total transaction volume of $10B — increased by 58.5% compared to 2018. 2. 3.11M total active dapp users (only 1.48M in 2018) and 2.77M new users started using dapps this year. 3. 1,445 new dapps entered the market, 690 from Ethereum and 411 from TRON. 4. DeFi has the most impressive user growth. The number of DeFi dapp users increased by 610% and the transaction volume has increased by 251%.

DeFi dapps are thriving in 2019. Some quick stats summarize the overall DeFi ecosystem so far:

- More than $525 million flowed through DeFi in Q3 - DeFi dapps have contributed over 58% of the volume of Ethereum dapps in Q3 - $650 million has locked in DeFi

Our future wealth manager will be on the blockchain and the DeFi ecosystem momentum excites us most!

What has changed between 2016, the year you started out and now? And what needs to be changed in the industry?

"Since 2016, the (blockchain) media still reports in a very shallow way, in a pretty shallow way of headlines and scoops, sensationalism about the space. It makes everyone works much harder to cut through that noise, really bring people the true insights about what’s going on, the good, the bad, and the ugly, in a way that is high-integrity and well-grounded in research. There were still a bit stuck."

"We also need to make much progress in regulation so that things are clear across the broad. So even progress in one jurisdiction or another isn’t of enough of the solution, we need everyone on board with how engaging in the conversation of how they wanna do things, so operators know how to design their products and given the global nature of their technology. Unlike a bank operates in a certain country, the bank knows the jurisdiction of customers, and movement of payments, the blockchain doesn’t differentiate between wallet and address necessarily which is there. So certainly we need kind of a 360 framework for people to operate the product safely and effectively."

We asked Jason: "What are the barriers to entry the bigger art market and have more people on board to create and trade the art on portion?"

He says: "The major barrier to entry is 'taking the cryptic out of crypto". Right now there are as many cryptocurrency users as internet users in the year 1994. For the rest of the population to trade art on Portion we must obfuscate blockchain as much as possible (while still keeping it decentralized)."

YES :)

The idea of putting together an article about dapp is trying to explain the concept of dapp in a simple way. Maybe we should write a separate one about frontend, wallet and others!

Thanks, Nicolas, always appreciate your comment.

Awareness of dapps and what they have gained huge traction in the blockchain developer community, especially on Ethereum and EOS. Ever since EOS launched its mainnet in June, the so-called "Game of Thrones” of the blockchain has kicked-off officially. Ethereum, the most established blockchain, EOS, the operating system designed for dapps, and high-speed blockchains including NEO, Stee, and TRON, are aggressively expanding their dapp landscape. As the facilitator and enabler of dapps, Dapp.com produced the “Dapp.com Q3 Market Report,” to recap what happened and where we are with dapps, especially regarding Ethereum and EOS.
