I don't know much, but a little bit of critical thinking can easily help you understand what's really going on.

1. All these plant construction deals have due dates both on paper and off the paper. Build these by x date kind of deal in order to get x amount of support or tax cuts or regulation burden eased etc in these states. So these companies are trying to build these things ASAP.

2. Also these due dates are off the paper. When new leaders come in at federal, state or municipal, it always carries risk that some things will change and construction of it becomes difficult. Projects of this scale can be scrutinized and delayed to death because they are "illegal" because it can't fully satisfy million lines of legal clauses. It is possible because the political climate allows it. Even from Korea side, imagine new regime comes in from Korea side that tries to build ties with China, and they say we are reducing ties with US and you should ease development etc. These companies are then in negative by order of billions.

3. So time is of essence.

4. H1B would be the visa to get for these workers but it is gamed to death and these workers can't get them in time.

5. So both America side, and Korea side agree in an underhanded way to agree that these workers can come into work, build the plants and train the local workers ASAP.

6. Look at the recent interview by Trump where he even admits it is expected that workers need to come in fast to build these plants. So he's understanding of the situation. He's been a builder for his life. He know projects of these scale require a green light from the authority to work.

7. Trump is likely using this incident as a bargain chip for trade negotiations or ICE accidentally going pitbull on an unintended target

I too used to hate leetcode questions, but after conducting 100s of interviews as an interviewer, leetcode style questions are the best way to test intelligence and coding skills ive found in general.

However, leetcoding interviews must be paired with system design and topgrading in order to have balanced interviews. Leetcoding alone is incomplete but i find it essential.

Bias, disposition, tendency, whatever terminology you would like to give, is baked into rationale and induction. You cannot have the latter without the former. This is even more true with LLM. Without bias, LLM is inaccurate and will become useless.

Things are moving at a dizzying pace. I've been in tech for over 10 years, and went through many fads and trends, and had no problem keeping up.

There should be "forking" of articles in Wikipedia and allow different factions with different worldviews to present their versions of articles.

I am surprised that a long article attempting to find links between various manifestations of modernity to allergy, it fails to mention vaccine.

The diet, exposure to pollutants, sun, level of cleanliness etc certainly has evolved over time. But none of these have changed as dramatically, become prevalent and directly alters our immune system like vaccine does.

I don't know of any study that's been able to explain how vaccines may increase the risk of allergy. However, if we are to speculate about possible causes for allergy, it should be nearly at the top. And the omission of even a single mention is quite striking.

The fact that we cannot even talk about something so obvious should pause some of us to wonder, what is it that is causing this kind of blind spot in modernity. And that should also lead us to ask who is trying to hide this for what reason.

Can you try to recreate the real test environment and take practice tests that way? Time limit, location, mood, no music or headphones etc. Treat your practice exam as if you are writing a real one and do this over and over again.

I had forgotten that OpenAI started as a non-profit. Elon Musk gave $100 million for a non-profit cause, and even he doesn't know how OpenAI became a for-profit company. I am not sure about the legality, but this transition seems like a unethical rug pull against the early contributors.

This indictment only shows how good Peter Thiel is at his job.

Whoever calling for bailout or any government intervention in this incident should disclose how much money they have tied up with SVB for others to understand the level of conflict of interest the person has.

I think there's a huge opportunity for whoever that can create Spark or Flink like framework that works in Node.js or at least has Node.js API.

It's a huge challenge to create a tool like that, but I believe there's an appetite for such tool. JS community is huge. JS is a flexible language that can conceptualize distributed computing well. JS community and developer ecosystem generally has superior emphasis on developer experience, outreach and education than the communities around existing tools.

Given how economically valuable companies that exist around big data distributed computing are, I think a company that can create an open source Node.js distributed computing tool will be like the next MongoDB, Elastic and Databricks.

This is just the start. It'll make a lasting impact on the impressionable mind that the right thing is to fit it, conform, and subjugate oneself to bullies rather than stand up for oneself.

Not gonna lie. That hasn't occurred to me, but that is a pretty grave discrimination as well.

It might be even more insidious because there's a strong justification that stupid people are stupid because of their own volition. However, in reality, there's element of intelligence that's purely genetic and there's nothing a person can do.

At least in the Western developed world, discrimination against less attractive people is probably the most potent, most prevalent and least acknowledged discrimination in the society.

It is most potent because this happens at almost every human interaction from trivial (getting help at a store from the staff) to important (selecting a husband or a wife).

It is most prevalent because this happens across all races, religions and sexes without any inhibition. Other than the old adage, "don't judge book by its cover." people judge others based on looks all the time and feel justified in doing so. There's not even a word like racism, sexism, anti-X or X-phobia for discrimination against less attractive people.

It is least acknowledged because as you mentioned, there's no one who would like to join the "ugly" identity group. There's no commonly shared root like race, religion, sex, or ethnicity. And identifying oneself as "ugly" probably hurts the person more than it can help.

It is unfortunate that there's no foreseeable solution to this wide spread problem at all, other than voluntary empathy from the society in general. But at the same time, that may be the most important antidote to any discrimination we face rather than top-down rule of law change.

Not true. You are probably looking at last 70 to 80 years. Look back several millennia. Our generation is better off than 99% every generation before us. Climate change, multiple conflicts around the world are no where near a big problem compared to the struggles our ancestors have gone through.

The liberal paradigm is to attribute this to financially squeezed young people who cannot buy homes and start families. I think people with capital would love to develop housing in SF which would ease the housing problem in SF. In fact, people with capital really are the only people that may be able to solve the housing problem in SF. And the reason why they can't do this is the local government.
