This is very much college/program specific. My tenure track wife has tried with two different different universities to get tenure credit by writing an open access text book. In both cases (R1 programs) neither would recognize anything except 1st/2nd author publications in peer reviewed journals. They would not recognize textbooks.

Or the AWS commercial east/west regions. All of which have FedRAMP moderate ATOs.

Here's the amendment that was rejected.

On page 7, strike lines 13 and 14 and insert the following: cell site location or global positioning system information. ``(C) An application under paragraph (1) may not seek an order authorizing or requiring the production of internet website browsing information or internet search history information.''.

I've used Linux as my daily driver for over 10 years. While not popular with some I've had zero issues with Lastpass. Browser plugin, Android App, supports MFA, just works.

Most importantly, I can share select passwords with my wife who uses Windows/IOS.

I bought a Precision 5520 with Ubuntu pre-installed one year ago and it is still one of the best laptops I've ever purchased. My previous three were Thinkpads with the latest being an x230. The quality of the X series has really been in decline and x230 was the last straw for me (keyboard warping).

I've always heard about coil whine but maybe I just can't hear it (I'm 43). As long as the Linux support remains strong I will keep buying the Precision line.

The problem is that external costs like pollution are not being priced into the cost of ICE vehicles by, say, a pollution tax. This limited subsidy is a backhanded way of doing that.

Using the carbon offset market, you could offset 760 Tonnes of CO2 with $7500. That's the carbon equivalent of driving an ICE for over 2 Million miles.

I've used Gnome (on Fedora) for 10+ years as my daily driver and just recently have been using the pre-installed Ubuntu 16.04 and Unity that came with my new Dell laptop. One of the things I immediately loved is the global menu. This greatly expands application space especially on small laptop screens. I figured I would wipe the laptop soon after delivery and install Fedora/Gnome but the look and integration of global menu has me staying on Unity for the time being. This was a small thing I had no idea existed after years of Gnome 2/3.

I would love for this to be an option in Gnome Shell or just the default. I've seen hints of an extension coming, hope it gets some traction.

Exact same price. You are quoted a price when you checkout online, but a human shops for you and goes through a normal checkout process in the store which weighs the fruits/vegetables etc. You are provided the same store receipt when they deliver the groceries as you would get in store. That amount is charged to your credit card.

A grocery chain here (Kansas, so I assume most of the US) offers their full store online with free delivery ($100 minimum). Our weekly trips have been replaced by a few minutes on the laptop. The best part for me is that the orders are tracked and I can just re-order what I bought last week or make slight modifications.

No robots yet but I hope that's not far off.

Honestly I feel almost guilty when they roll up to the deliver the groceries.

Presumably this works exactly like Skype. All new messages are scrolled but if you manually scroll up to read old messages you'll get a button for "new message" that you must click on to resume. Which makes sense in that you don't want the screen to automatically advance if you are manually scrolling for old messages.

Video game soundtracks on spotify. Specifically:

* Bastion * Fez * Assassins Creed

No vocals, just great music designed to keep you focused.

This was very much a problem I had. As a person who prefers to read books over stuff on the web, I enjoy the fact that as long as I have my phone (always) I can knock out a chapter virtually anywhere.

Since moving to ebooks my book consumption has increased 4x. I've replaced random phone scrolling during downtimes with books and it has been fantastic.

I'm to the point now where I actually prefer reading books on my phone even when a larger display device is nearby.

Just turned 40 this year and certainly had been feeling the effects of neglecting my physical well being. I knew I couldn't undertake any drastic changes as they probably wouldn't last so I decided on a couple small things that were attainable.

1) Decided to pay attention to what I ate. Not necessarily to change what I was eating but just be aware and recognize I need to eat a little less. This has meant not getting the second round at dinner and cutting out most of the snacks at night.

2) Wanted to exercise. Again going from zero I knew I had to keep the bar low, so I decided on walking 25-30 minutes 3 times a week. Also to tone my upper body I also began 5 sets of 20 push-ups twice a week. These are mostly still on my knees but I'm getting better.

The result after 3 months have been great. I've lost 18 pounds and have a much improved mental outlook.

Importantly I wanted to keep the expectations and changes small. I can always ramp up later but going from zero I needed to make it easy to be successful. Also I track all of the above in a spreadsheet which is a major motivator to get the X's all filled out for walking and push-ups.

I wish I would have done this sooner.
