No one plans to hire their assistant based on how much they will motivate the other people that are going to deal with the assistant. Sure, it is important that they are pleasant, but that's it. Their role is actually an administrative one of brokering information. For the permissions, just add basic auth in the reverse proxy and choose whom to share the passwd with.

Now if you want OAuth or something like that... well tough luck, you need to set up OIDC or whatever and that's going to be taking you some time, but it still works how you want.

It's funny for me to read this. They don't exhibit "confidence". You are just getting the most accurate text that it can produce. Of course, the training data doesn't contain "I don't know" for questions, that would be really bad training data! If you are getting "attitudes", it would be because you are triggering some kind of dialogue-esque data with your prompts (or the system prompt might be doing that).

Expecting the LLM to say "sorry I don't know" would be like expecting google search to return "we found some pages but deemed them wrong, so we won't show you any".

Great! I have looked into this and I have a few questions though...

Basically, I feel that tailscale does not make it very easy to set up services this way, and the only method I have figured out has a bit too many steps for my liking, basically:

- to expose some port to the tailnet, there needs to be a `tailscale serve` command to expose its ports

- in order for this command to run on startup and such, it needs to be made into a script that is run as a SystemD service

- if you want to do this with N services, then you need to repeat these steps N times

Is this how you do it? is there a better way?

And refuse the extra cash? I bet they haven't felt as successful in the past two years as they do right now.

In which case one has to wonder if we need tailwind at all anymore. To me, years ago, tailwind was a great sell as a tool to work faster by typing less. The tradeoff is that the "inline styles" look awful and become a mess real quickly when too many of them are placed together (so and so has precedence or whatever, a media query for each single property, constantly translating between CSS and tailwind equivalent, etc).

Now? Well, AI solves the entire issue of time taken typing. Classnames always looked cleaner too. Additionally CSS doesn't lag behind Browser features and comes with the full power of the language.

Why bother with Tailwind anymore whatsoever?

They were extremely lucky that AI picked up tailwind to keep it relevant, they should be keeping up with the times if they want to stay relevant. Instead their actions are those of someone that is cowering in fear, making sure that they can put the last of the revenue into the coffer. (reject PR because they don't want AI to do better with tailwind while firing engineers, not to mention the big tantrum).

Lets go back to actual CSS, it is easier to read anyway, it's now a modern tool with variables and all that, there's no longer a need to dumb it down.

Besides, if I wanted to pay for pre-made components, I would go with DaisyUI which is agnostic to the frontend framework, unlike the paid components from tailwindLabs, which strictly require you use one of the javascript frameworks.

A huge win, especially because now he can pocket that money and doesn't have to spend it on any of the engineers that he just fired.

I am sorry to hear that. It is high time that us engineers learn the lesson and refuse to work with any company that asks for unpaid work. There is no other way, but this only works if we are brave enough to act as activists, so that other engineers become aware of the abuse and circumvent it successfully.

The few that benefit from the abuse also benefit from keeping it hush hush. This is no different from obscuring the pay-bands for employees so that they can get away with underpaying the most vulnerable workers.
