In a big business, a software engineer is only a cogs that follows specific orders. I remember a blog of a former engineer of Microsoft that talked about it, he said that, in the past, Microsoft was direct, and having a technical meeting with Bill Gates was something usual. However, the company grow and those perks are long gone, now MS has a lot of bureaucracy and level and sub levels of complexity (so many executives and managers).

Memory? It depends, knowing technical knowledge by memory is useless since we could use google. However, if memory means EXPERIENCE then, its a different matter. A seasoned engineer costs a lot more for this reason.

A good engineer solves problems in the most feasible and working way possible. If its fast, cheap and usable then its fine. A good software engineer solves problems by generating software. Its amazing the amount of self called software engineers that are unable to design from start to end a simple software. So, a good software engineer is mainly a PROGRAMMER.

In this case, a game journalist should be specialized in some kind of games. Its not as simple as "i play xbox" or "playstation". For example Flight Simulation games or Wargaming. In my experience, i tried to join facebook a couple of months ago and: a) It asked me for a lot of private information. I submit all of them. b) Then i entered. Facebook suggested me, a list of contacts. All of them are ugly people. c) And finally, facebook asked me for a real photo. In this case, Wikipedia's editors are the *ssholes. Of course, not every single editor is bad, but a good editor is somebody that: a) accepted the rules of wikipedia (that are unfair and prone to abuse). b) have enough spare time. c) don't mind or have troubles working with abusive people.
