I barely find Steam Link playable on my wired home network. There is no chance Stadia is playable on hotel Internet.

The whole point of doing that is to not have to run dual boot or have Windows on your bare metal. Do you think someone who cares about that wants to give Google absolute power over their gaming?

Building a rig and just putting Windows 10 on it and installing steam takes about an hour if you have done it before and about 6 hours if you haven’t and have a tutorial. You could just also buy a prebuilt rig for 10 percent more.

Mostly just getting tired of not having a quiet place to work and needing to grind leetcode so that I don't have to worry about being un-hirerable in my free time. Besides that I generally like being an SWE. I'm also pretty tired of private companies wanting me to value stock options equally to dollars.

I personally can handle putting a desktop in 1br apartment for $200 less.

You could definitely go eGPU + intel NUC and tape them together for 2x Switch + Dock. M2 nvme drives are tiny and I think some boards take laptop memory. You really only need the equivalent of a gtx 970 to do 1080p which probably exists in Pci x4.

It’s kind of difficult to setup but you will learn a lot of you don’t have much virt experience. I recommend trying to share as little as possible. Pass through a whole pcie usb hub to guest instead if separate devices. Buy a second pcie NIC. Use a cheap AMD card for the host (better for linux) and NVIDIA for your guest. Don’t try to share your motherboard audio just use the passed through cards audio out of HDMI and display port. Get an AB switch to change which machine your KB/M is on instead of software. Basically only share your processor and memory. I have linux on a m2 nvme and my guest has a big ssd all to itself.

Everyone going to this would ruin games. These streaming services will always have compression artifacts or jitter which kills immersion. Worse they will be more expensive over time than hardware. Even worse your games can get deleted and you won’t own anything. Worse there will he ads put into the stream.

As long as you are fine with 1080p cards from 5+ years ago are fun. 4k is generally not worth it.

You can build a 1080p rig that is about as big as a Nintendo Switch.

I run a linux desktop with windows installed as a kvm guest with GPU passthrough which gives near bare metal performance.

Or just spend $500 one time on a local rig one time that can max out 1080p at 100+frames instead of paying more per year for less.

Dirtbikes, ATVs are better at traversing the terrain and we wouldn't need roads. If you want to get anywhere you need to go fast. The problem is speed kills. Even with all of the gear it's significantly safer to be a two ton steel cage. Personal helicopters would be ideal but that seems cost prohibitive and amateur flight isn't legal. The allure of the car is independent transportation. I suppose self driving cars would help the safety issue if they work but they still need roads.

DDNS maps a domain to your current dynamic IP. Its built into most routers. They will push the new ip to a DDNS service when it changes.

I currently just let my desktop run constantly. It runs Windows in a KMS for games and sleeping breaks it so I never even suspend. It only seems to use about $10/month in power. I have been considering using DDNS through my router and Cloudflare and trying to create a iOS/Android app that will automatically upload my photos to the my DDNS for storage on my desktop. It feels a little crazy but the idea of syncing my photos to my own machine with no middle man is comforting.

DDNS seems like it's a local too good to be true for solving the dynamic IP problem. I'd prefer to have a static IP for my gigabit Internet but sadly Webpass doesn't allow it. Does anyone have experience doing something like this?

City dwellers would change their tune on ban all cars if it really happened. Imagine no short term car rentals for trips to wilderness outside of the city. Are you going to ride your bike 200 miles or take your kid on a motorcycle?

Agree, status updates are a waste of time on Slack or in a real meeting. Nobody actually cares about others statuses. If there is a real blocker a competent worker should resolve it on their own without waiting until the next status meeting imo.

The original version of Ad Words always seemed ethical to me. Its simply showing users ads for something they were looking at the present moment. Mixing results and ads is bad. We know for a fact the first couple hits are clicked at a much higher rate.

I listen to a podcast called the No Agenda Show that has sustained itself for about 10 years on a value for value model. Listeners donate what they want and there are never any ads. I think the model is applicable elsewhere. Granted it won’t make someone rich but someone can make a living.

Its pseudo sanctioned by the city. Its on 15th and Mission every weekend can’t miss it. It will probably end after someone gets stabbed sadly.
