Colombian here. Maduro wasn't the leader of a country; he lost the elections and became a cruel dictator. He led a regime that murdered, tortured, and disappeared thousands of people, turning Venezuela into a narco-state run by the ELN and other paramilitary groups. It may not have worked in other areas, but the US intervention in Panama, which resulted in the capture of another dictator, Noriega, transformed Panama into the fastest-growing economy in Latin America (6% average annual growth). Poverty fell by 60%, and today it's a very prosperous country. I can assure that there will be massive celebrations today by all our Venezuelan brothers and sisters living in Latin America.

Edit: I just discovered that Noriega was also captured on January 3rd.

It's a bit sad to make such a decision when you're almost 80. Realizing the importance of time with your family so late gives you so little time.

A few years ago, I read about the regrets of dying people, and many of them related to spending more time with their families... That was one of the reasons I decided to close my company last year (after 20 years; I'm 45 now) and start over, working with just a few customers, making less money but having more time. Now, I only work part-time to have the chance to spend more time with my loved ones.

In addition to what you mention:

- If you have sleep apnea that might explain why you wake up in the middle of the night, and there are treatments you could try.

- Wearing ear plugs (the ones that look like a screw) has helped me a lot, but I have to cut them to be able to sleep with them, since they do protrude from the ear and are uncomfortable.

- There's a simple trick to fall sleep again in the middle of the night: Set a specific time in the morning to write down the thoughts that worried you the most, with possible solutions. When you wake up in the night, think that you will attend your thoughts only the morning at the time you have specified, with some time you will see how you can fall sleep easier. (This is part of the solutions to attend the rumination thoughts)

IMHO,it was only a matter of time before the big names started to include AI generations on their software. I'm guessing if most of the AI design tools that are being launched everyday and which relies mostly in consuming a public api could be easily absorbed?

I'm in a similar mood, but most of the indie maker's products are created this way and some end up scaling pretty well and turned in good investments, as they are usually cost-effective.

Creator here, I build this tool to create automatic vectorial designs, mostly focused on social media and canva-like designs, I scrapped a huge collection of quotes for the texts, and created an API for the illustrations (also mine), and used template-based as well as algorithmically created layouts.

It was hard to get designs visually appealing but the results are pretty good IMHO. Everything runs in the browser ;)

PD: AI tools can't create vectorial designs (yet).

Luck is also determined before you are born: around half of the population live with less than 2usd a day, so half of the population is starting in very unlucky conditions, and would be harder for them to try to create luck when they are struggling for survive.

Wow, no one has mentioned a bicycle, I got mine for around 300usd like 10 years ago, a simple but useful MTB, since then I have invested no more than 800usd in addons and repairs ( to fix a bike is so cheap!) With it I've traveled for around 15 cities in my country (Colombia), I've discovered amazing places: lakes, forrests, mountains, rivers, towns and more... I've met lots of new friends and saved tons of money as it became my main mode of transportation, it also allowed me to know my city: new parks, new cafes, new spots you can't really see from a window's car perspective. Gmail algorithm doesn't depend entirely on those factors you mention, it's a message per message basis, the problem is that people are marking you as spam. You have to check your emails and detect what's triggering the spam filter inside the content, give it some time to send the next one, and clean your list urgently, even confirming your users if they want to be in your list.
