Some people here may find the key points pretty surprising.

- US software development job postings have grown by almost 15% since the launch of Claude Code in late February, 2025, while overall job postings fell by 7% over the same period. - Job postings for occupations with more potential exposure to AI-driven change, including software development, generally fell the most between 2022 and 2026. But over the past year, the most AI-exposed occupations have generally seen the largest rebound in postings. - 71% of the increase in software development job postings between May 2025 and May 2026 is from senior roles, and 37% is due to jobs that mention AI in their title.

Besides the band’s success in carving their own niche, I’m equally surprised by the intricacy of the economy that enables Phish and other traveling shows to be successful.

There are many specialists required to make it happen. Roadies who travel with the artists. Arenas (with their often billionaire owners). Security and hospitality staff. Vendors in the arenas selling food, drinks, and merch. Vendors outside the shows selling bootleg merch, street food, alcohol, and other illicit goods in the parking lots.

There’s a lot happening every night to make the whole thing as fun as it is.

In every presentation I saw at re:Invent that mentioned AI, RAG was also mentioned.

It seems to me that with AI, as models and products achieve parity, the amount of data that is accessible to a provider will be the key differentiator in quality of responses. Those who can gain access to the most customer data will be best-positioned to win the AI market.

One way to approach this would be using Epics [0], which can live at the group-level. Child epics and/or issues can then be used for more finely tuned requirements.

We also discussed your question around embedding it. Right now, rich text editor is available in: Wikis, Issues, Epics, Merge requests, and Designs. The focus is to add it to more places in GitLab. There are no active discussions around open sourcing the rich text editor as a separate component though the source code is available.

The accelerated learning that happened, particularly understanding how to be a leader at GitLab, set me up for success. I’m now in a leadership role which I love. The joy that I get from work has lead to a better , happier life outside of work, too.

The "empathy for management" bit was definitely a positive outcome of the shadow program for me.

For me, the most surprising thing was how much our executive group and CEO care about our values.

Our values were frequently referred to during discussions and decisions were often debated in the context of our values. I had been working at GitLab for about 6 months when I joined the program and it was amazing to see our values be such points of emphasis to our leaders.

Having worked in a number of other organizations in the past, I can't recall one single "company value" from any of those orgs. In contrast, I don't think I'll ever forget GitLab's CREDIT[0] values.

During the shadow program, I realized such emphasis on our values starts at the top.

The gradual roll out of this change started with a blog post[0] and included in-app notifications for the owners of impacted groups on GitLab.com.

If the group owner did not log in during the in-app notification period, they were then emailed (the email you received today) notifying that the group was impacted.
