Once again the Philippines is leading the way with how these things will play out for other countries in the future[1]

The revolution is happening at the top.
Does this mean that if I can get ChatGPT to generate copyrighted text, they'll get in trouble?
Will these kinds of software end up like a programs written with bespoke Lisp macros? Lots of power but only one person actually knows it by heart.
There was a talk from Joe Armstrong about using property testing to test Dropbox.
If cryptobros didn't flaunt their wealth, crypto wouldn't have been where it is now. Flaunting is part of the spec.
That’s amazing. The post date is cherry on top.
I’ve been thinking about this in the context of my kids.
I am a bit of a snob (a huge one if I’m being honest) about media I consume. Naturally I guide the content my kids watch quite closely, much closer than my peers. I am their curator.
But I can’t help but feel I am isolating my kids when I do this. The things they watch and listen and play and read at home are vastly different than other kids their age.
New drop just dropped
Ahh right. Yes I am in fact conflating the two.
But can the compiler be used without the library? Or can the library be used without the compiler/would it still be beneficial?
Use AI to generate the comments of course
While the level of commitment to backwards compatibility is commendable, I had hoped this would trigger dropping GCL instead of forking it.
My surface level understanding is that GCL is a big reason why 3rd party libraries are a huge pain to use in Clojurescript.
Of course this would have went completely against the project’s goals, so it was never going to happen.
Ah yes, save 100ms for a chat response that takes 10 seconds to generate.
Problem solved
Yeah but you can't raise trillions of dollars with that. Investors want to be able to tell to their friends at parties that they helped made blackhole tech possible.
Would piracy become a problem in this case? Pirates would only have to deal with one lonely driver to get to multipe trucks’ worth of goods.
Technically it’s more expensive, because it cost engineer + $3.57 :)
I don't understand why they don't fix this.
It makes number go up and to the right
We’re like trading cards to these people
Such accountability
Truth is a probability game. Just keep trying until you arrive.
Is this the new LMGTFY?
This is what Emacs Lisp has, and what indeed does happen with libraries
I currently have this T25. But it’s mostly a gimmick. Once the coolness wore off it’s just a midrange T470 under the hood.
Still trucking after 7 years though. But I can’t upgrade it to Win 11 lol
Until they pull the rug and make you read through 10 paragraphs of ads first before getting to your answer.
Like rebuilding society from the ashes
A couple of other great kid/parent shows:
- Hilda on Netflix - more appropriate for 9+ year olds but my 5 year old loves it. Has some genuinely scary moments though especially the later seasons - The Gruffalo, Stick Man, Snail and the Whale, etc - based on the books - Avatar the Last Airbender - for older kids but has one of the best character arcs
I wonder if film photography (slide film in particular) will become viable again and that photojournalists will once again become necessary for society.
Rather than cryptography which could be difficult to grok for a non-technical jury, a physical slide of film would be the source of truth.
It can still be faked by photographing a manufactured/generated scene though.
Oligarchs are technically American taxpayers
Hmm ok so it doesn't actually work :(
Even if it worked with 3rd party apps, at that point why not install something like Signal.
