I am super curious how far this goes. If, hypothetically, I wore some sort of glasses that kept facial recognition from identifying and tracking me at my local grocery store, would that constitute a civil infringement in the future?

What about extensions that skip embedded ads in a YouTube video? Is that tortuous interference with the view counter that creators use to market their reach?

Giving a second shout out to pangolin. You can also manage a multi site set up quite easily with built in auth and without much command line foo. Super useful if you run something like proxmox and eany go spin up several services without too much configuration on each service to expose to the world. Really happy with pangolin.

In an employment context, do we consider the user to be the employer or the person using the computer? I would think it would be the device owner, which generally would be the employer.

If so, then I would think the previous statement about adblocking being opt-in would still hold. It is just that advertisers are trying to indivually track and monetize employees on company devices and time. On my work machines I am generally not allowed to run software that my employer does not approve, why should ads be treated differently?

Crowdstrike is a recent example that comes to mind. I don't see how paying for CrowdStrike made it more secure or reliable.

I would also argue that you could take all the $$ paying for proprietary software and contribute it to people who are making the open source software, making the reliance on "free" eyeballs less of an issue.

You didn't answer my question. Please outline how being white has lead to your suffering or your ancestors suffering. I am not saying they did not suffer - everyone does - but how did being white cause you or them to suffer?

I understand why there might want to be a protected space for certain groups that, up until recently, were systematically treated harmfully. Whites don't fall into that category. So, I don't understand how it harms you that you cannot have a white party. Can you explain what harms you suffer?

I would love to see more data on this. Their site makes some bold claims, but it is hard to know how to quantify the effectiveness of the laser treatment, How many units do you need per X fish? After how many hours/ days/ weeks does it take to reduce the parasites to X levels?

By that logic, is the term Baptist or Hindu scientifically sound? Is the term string theory? Is the term working class ? What makes words or terminology scientifically sound that doesn't apply here?

It sounds like someone disagrees with the underlying identity that individuals ascribe themselves and now anyone who do research using these identities is censored. You don't have to endorse (or even fully understand) a phenomena to research it. Arguably those are some of the most interesting research questions.

It sounds like this project isn't addressing the user convenience aspect of ollama, but rather the developer convenience.

Hopefully both will be easy for users to play around with, but RamaLama should be easier to get your PR merged as a developer and swap out different registries. Vendor lock-in is rarely a good thing in the world of open source.

As someone who lives in Africa, I can assure you that the cheapest food around is locally grown. My guess for why is that import duties make a sizable chunk portion of the cost and that the infrastructure for keeping things cold/fresh is expensive or non-existent, driving up the risks and costs of importing fresh items.

I find these lists to be super helpful: https://v.firebog.net/hosts/lists.php. It's an aggregator of blocklists that classify them based on your likelihood to get a false positive block. In my experience, they live up to their claim.

I also use Adguard (the free DNS resolver) on my phone for roaming, but use the pihole in my local home. Two advantages for me of the pihole are a more pleasant Android experience (none of these Android notifications that apps are running in the background, better battery life, etc), and my ability to the block lists and the frequency with which they update.

Open Data Kit is an awesome tool! Our NGO has used it for public health surveys and other data collection applications in the DR Congo where internet coverage is spotty, literacy is low, and transportation is a logistical nightmare. It does exactly what it says on the tin and enables our community health workers to gather data in challenging places with just a phone and extra battery pack. As a bonus, the development community is great as well!

Just for interests sake, solar panels in the DR Congo are about a dollar a watt. However, getting durable batteries is a different story.

I also had this question and it took me about 5 minutes to figure out that you needed to click to reveal. It's fancy, but not at all practical. Hopefully someone updates it to just a flat list.

I really wanted to like the x260, but we equipped a team of 6 programmers with the x260 and not one was without fault. The build construction or QA must have been on the fritz with our batch because half of them would crash when even the slightest pressure was applied to the bottom left corner of the laptop. I cannot recommend it in good faith.

I second premii. It caches a lot of content which is useful in low-bandwith environments.
