Spent over a minute on this stupid site scanning up and down and still have no idea what it actually does.

Just a web guy :)

Jesus - just enjoy the beers.
Really shows how our minds are slightly warped by reading all these tech sites.
One thing I'll tell you.. never ask for the Google support teams help: all they tell you to do is bid more. It's almost as if they're on commission. Google PPC is slowly becoming more and more expensive - and Google are slowly putting more and more adverts on the site.
Awesome set up.
Are there any open source solutions that allow me to do this for my city? Simple execution, mobile ready - add locations and reviews along with 'find places nearby' ?
Same here - I was trying to turn the nobs, trying to press the 'On/Off' button. And after all that - no YouTube demo etc.
So what technologies is this using for streaming etc..
Ibogaine treatment is the best way to get over heroin addiction (apart from strong will power of course).
I think he means 'Google Display Network', which is what puts adverts on sites using 'Google AdSense'.
"Using encryption only draws even more attention to yourself."
Exactly.
This has got to be a case of them being completely out of touch with the average user.
I've been using web browsers for over 10 years and assumed a browser wouldn't make it this easy to find passwords.
After reading this I quickly checked and saw over 50 accounts listed all with the passwords in plain text next to them.
I guarantee each and every one of my friends that don't work in IT don't know about this - I could ask them all if I could quickly borrow there laptop to check a soccer score and find out the majority of there passwords.
What needs to be done is make people more aware of what's happening when they save a password - and perhaps a quick pop up in the bottom right coming up notifying them which passwords are saved and if they want to clear them before lending out, or leaving it unattended.
Nice concept. I hope it works.
This is almost as if the question was placed in by Derek so he could plug that Ted talk! Saw that video a long time ago and ever since then I've kept my mouth shut. I've learnt a lot from you (another.. ideas are just a multiplier of execution :) )
Yep. Awesome guy. Inspiring.
This is awesome!
I spent $100,000 last year on Google AdWords - it made me some decent money. The costs kept getting higher and higher - I called one of there advertising rep's to give me advice - it cost me around $600 losses in 1 day. Called back, made changes - told them I don't want to take 'risks' like that again. I then tried this 'Enhanced Campaign' feature that I think they're bringing in across all accounts in June - it put me in the negative and I'm now no longer advertising with them.
This part hit the nail on the head: "(suggesting ridiculously high default bids, goading you to bid more to get on page 1, not showing your ad at all if you bid too low – even if no other ads appear etc)."
Every time I'd call they'd say up your 'Cost Per Click'. Every single time.
Thing is, this will actually stop most contact form spam software.
I'd love to see there conversion statistics from changes like this.
You should ask.
It's not an employee's 'opinion' based on an emotional decision on whether they can share something with an individual that has cost millions (billions?) to produce.
Legend. It's all that was needed.
This is awesome :)
Would anyone be interested in something like this for Windows? If so I'd be willing to code it up in Adobe AIR.
I love initiatives like this.
One I was thinking.. why can't Facebook put an 'Alert box' on everyones Facebook feed if they're in that area.
I'm fed up with Gmail lately. Priority Inbox is a mess. And lots of mail keeps going to 'Spam', which before I moved was hidden. Most 'Spam' is from my support ticket software. I mark it 'Not spam', and it still goes there. Perhaps it's time for someone to release a simple online mail service..
SEO is not a viable marketing strategy for everyone.
