Hi! Perhaps the people of HN can offer some advice:

I’ve happily been using Emacs for about a year now, with loads of customizations from where I worked. Now that I no longer work there, the customizations don’t really make sense for my own projects. I started from scratch today, and now I totally hate emacs! I want to just start coding, and not spend a whole day setting up my IDE. Do you have any suggestions for other IDEs/reasons for me stick it out with Emacs? (I’m on a mac, doing mostly rails and node development btw)

I'd say we're targeting a fairly different demographic, as our meals our $7, and we serve to as few as 2 people. We really love to feed startups who might not be able to afford a $12-15 meal, or who don't have enough people to hit the minimum for these other services.

That's definitely the traditional idea. Here are two reasons that I think $7 is worth their money:

1. Foods like pb&j and ramen aren't exactly going to keep your brain in tip-top condition all day. Unbalanced meals can make you feel very tired.

2. Many of these scrappy startups can't make the time to even order groceries online. (source: I lived in a hacker house for a year)

I guess you can never be entirely sure. (Do you have any ideas about how we can prove this to people?) Sometimes, we like to slip in notes about where the food came from, but we don't have any rigid guidelines set in place right now.

1. We've though about it, but we really want to support the scrappy little seed-stage startups who can't afford $11 lunches, but want to eat lunch as a team.

2. No problems with that so far, but thanks for the tip!

3. That's a good idea! We've been suggesting to really small startups (<5 people) that they order lunch along with other companies in their building.

Minimum order size: 2. We didn't really set a maximum, but so far, nobody has asked for more than we can handle.

All of our current customers have a repeating weekly order. If they want to change it, they have to tell us by Friday the week before. That's really all a 'commitment' means.

Right now, only 1 meat meal and 1 vegan meal a day. We're thinking about adding a GF option.

Yes. We did have our delivery schedule run 15 mins behind one day and apologized with a 5% discount for our customers.

We're really striving for "feel good" meals that fill you up, but don't slow down your brain for the rest of the day.

Minimum order is only 2 meals, but we charge a bit more ($8.50) if you only have a few people.

I think it's much more affordable for a seed stage startup. Also, ZeroCater is more in the $10-15 price range and they're feeding more series A and above companies.
