Actually, I'm the CEO of FOunerDating and what's surprising is that no one has actually asked if this is what really happens. We not only state (in white writing) on black backgroud) that "a message will be sent to your chosen linkedin contact) and let you see the message but it's also completely opt-in - no tricks where you can't find the "x". People can choose to a) not send or choose who they send a message to. There is nothing sneaky about it. If someone doesn't read the line "this will send a message" there isn't much we can do about that.

"I know we tell each other that failing is ok. I know that there are books and blogs written about the importance of failure. But that didn’t mean that I didn’t think it wasn’t because of me."

What a super difficult topic to discuss - props to @micah for his honesty.

agree with both of you - not always easiest conversations, but they are important questions. As I say in the post, it's ideal to try to have a more natural conversation - not just go down the list. But sometimes you just have to ask tough questions - it's more awkward/painful to "break-up" down the road.

"When you’re a founder, your company defines you. That means that your company’s daily ups and downs become your personal ups and downs; that’s a big adjustment."

Could not agree more with this line - you have to be able to take the mercuric ups and downs.

Actually had a similar idea a few years back and did a bunch of research. Two big things came up: 1) The tension is making guys look good without "taking the thought out of thoughtfulness." 2) How many new and unique suggestions are you really going to be able to give? After ten or so, they start to get stale or obvious.

Btw, re the counter you can fake the number just to see if it works/test something.
