Super great news. KDE created the best desktop environment there is and so many awesome free software. Great to see governments supporting it. More governments should stick to the Public Money means Public Code.

Great IDE, my second favourite for C++ coding, right after KDevelop

I use fractional scaling on both of my screens and didn't notice any slowdown. I guess scaling is very cheap and fast on GPUs of today so it does not cause any noticable slowdown.

Love how they are rounding various corners lately. Just slightly enough so it is not too much. And love ro se the Wayland PIP support. Can't wait until Firefox gets support for this.

I switched from Gnome to KDE Plasma because I find it more stable and more integrated since many of the features I otherwise miss are out of the box in KDE Plasma, and you do not need third party extensions which are quite unstable. Also later found out Plasma is much more configurable and personalizable so I xan really fit it best to my orefered workflow. I also find KDE developers listen to their users much more.

Started regularly donating last year and it is well worth it. KDE Plasma is the best desktop in existance and they also make one of the best FOSS applications.

For me the best KDE software integration is in openSUSE, also love their YaST graphical control center and BTRFS filesystem snappshoting integration with the package manager and the control center. Second best distro for me is Fedora KDE.

Same here for the last couple of years. KDE Plasma is by far the best computer desktop environment and getting even better fast. Complete opposite to closed corporate desktops on Windows and macOS which are quite bad these days and getting even worse. Corporate desktop ensittification is in full swing for years now. I am so glad for the wonderful KDE Plasma desktop (and GNU/Linux oprating system in general), which still respects my basic human rights like freedom, privacy and does not try to push that Annoying Idiocy down my throat. Thanks a bunch to all free software developers for making all this possible.

Yup completely sick of all this and all the harm it already produces, be it environmental or webhosting where they DOS you server scraping everything on it, or fake "AI" generated bug reports and other spam for FOSS projects or all the money it sucks out of really useful and really socially beneficial projects where money (and other resources, including attention) would be much smarter spent on. I hope all this "AI" or annoying idiocy hype crashes soon.

Better late then never. Always good to get rid of bloated spyware/adware.

Hopefully they are real smart and replace it with transparent, verifiable, privacy respecting, freedoms respecting, neutral software: Free software and open source.

GNU/Linux for the win

Barely upgraded to 6.14 and a new version is here. They are coming so fast. Have they shortened the time between new versions or is it just my feeling?

Nope. Much easier for me and actually possible to use a Linux distro without systemd, but it is almost impossible to do it without GNU tools. Also the principles and values of freedom and openness and promotion of those are much stronger with GNU than with systemd.

Awesome, Can't wait until we get rid of bloated spyware that is Windows and move to more open and privacy-respecting platforms. Hopefully also the expanding availability of GNU/Linux mean more properly made native games.

Another thumbs up for Krita. My sister is graphical designer and that is what she uses now after switching to Kubuntu about a year ago.

Happy birthday and thanks to all the KDE hackers for the gift of the best desktop environment on GNU/Linux and on computers in general. Light years ahead of anything else. Also so many very nice applications. Often winder how you can even manage to do it all.

Great news, really missed Amarok. Although Strawberry also does a very nice job. Looking forward to future development for Amarok.

Does not make it less of a crime and big deal if more evil corporations do it. If anything it makes it even more of a big deal and more concerning.

We just need to start using what libre and opensource software is already available. That is what every public institutions should use if they are serious about privacy and sovereignty

A friend of mine has a Tuxedo Pulse 14 (if I remember correctly) and he is using openSUSE Tumbleweed with KDE Plasma on it and he sounds very happy about it.

And it is far worse today. Microsoft has turned it into bloated spyware sometimes even showing ads. Not to mention all the "AI" junk they are trying to pack into it. The sooner we get rid of Windows the better. Thankfuly Steam Deck is showing people that even gaming is now just fine on GNU/Linux.

Yeah similar experience here, At work we are forced to use a distro with GNOME (well at least it is GNU/Linux and not that Microsoft bloated spyware) and yeah I have plenty of crashes in GNOME. No crashes at home with KDE Plasma on openSUSE Tumbleweed. It has been rock stable.

The one I usually install to normal users who do not know computers well is KDE Neon. But yeah with recent very positive experiences with openSUSE Tumbleweed, I am also thinking about using oST instead.

Same here. This is one change that they made that really does not make any sense to me. Also with smartphones being so used these days and they all have this single click mode of doing things, well it would also make more sense to me to keep single click for opening in KDE Plasma.
