It could be the three.js shader on the page that they use which renders in the background. I think you may be able to disable shaders to test but not sure. Been awhile.

It’s culturally indicative of the foundation’s values whether they know it or not.

A healthy community is one where discussions happen in the open, good and bad.

This is not good, and I’d recommend the community coming together and maybe finding or forming an alternative - which is difficult I know.

We often question monopolistic behavior with regard to market share and competition for physical goods. However we don't see this type of questioning with regard to data monopolies. Hate to say it that while I enjoy the use of Google and Facebook, they may also fall into this arena. Though with those companies at least an order of magnitude worth of effort MORE is expended on some form of heightened security, communication, and standards primary thru tertiary of their core offering.

This is the kind of thing that makes devs start new projects that look really close to projects that run this course. You know, just to spite this act.

I think a proper due diligence would find the fault in the existing company.

It is not secure to give production access and passwords to a junior dev. And if you do, you put controls in place. I think if there is insurance in place some of the requirements would have to be reasonable access controls.

This company might find itself sued by customers for their prior and obviously premeditated negligence from lack of access controls (the doc, the fact they told you 'how' to handle the doc).

You are right. Traditionally it was/is considered a difficult road to come into any space different than your core. Seems like Google and Amazon are really good at executing almost anything.

For me the major take away is that Nvidia is no longer the only supplier of "decent" DL hardware.

To think that any entrant no matter the size could come into the space and successfully develop a device in such short order is amazing.

Not only that but have it used within their own infrastructure for some time, and later to allow outside external usage, again amazing from a planning, execution, product perspective. Ah shucks, from a hardware perspective too.

Especially coming from a company In the traditional sense which has no business being in this sector (excuses).

It seems like NVidia is an army, polished to pump "chips". And this Google special ops team kicked ass.

The spirit of the desire for a robust yet useable module system i believe is at odds between Oracle and the community. A middle approach while seemingly sensible is less attractive to the community. What works for core modules may not work for the (regardless of what some may call design flaws) more complex and more important community modules.

The community made Java what it is today. This system is supposed to support the community more so. You could say that the problems were created.

Without the community Oracle would not have the resources to sustain Java.

If you experience this level of pressure, quit. And then start looking. Do not be influenced that your boss is the boss of your life or your career for that matter.

If you've got a family to take care of, quickly join a consulting firm. Worst case you'll have to travel some, but it buys you some mental time to start looking for another job. And it sure beats Hell. People WILL tell you to not quit but they won't know how much pressure your in. They don't need to know. Just quit and find a better place. Garden, paint, chill with your espresso, take up that book you never read, or that new lang you never used. Do something positive.

You hold the power to fix this. Quit, and find a new Job. Do it for yourself, do it for your family, for your friends, do it for open source communities that you contribute to.

There is always a way out, and don't let anyone make you think that the only way out is a tiny little door -- to hell. Because what they don't tell you is that the door is fake. Your already in hell.
