Same here. What worries me most is what if Google just decide for whatever reason to close my email account down. I've already had several Youtube accounts closed for (in my opinion) spurious reasons. The appeals process is a joke. I can live without Youtube, but I can't easily get myself out of the gmail hole I've dug over the last 2 decades.

Equally bad is the massive over sharpening applied to CCTV and dash cams. I tried to buy a dash cam a year ago that didn't have over sharpened images but it proved impossible.

Reading reg plates would be a lot easier if I could sharpen the image myself rather than try to battle with the "turn it up to 11" approach by manufacturers.

We encountered this recently - we have some monitoring software for a ride that was written in-house by a guy who no longer works for us. It was running on a Windows XP machine that needed connectivity via 2 serial ports.

We ended up creating a disk image then emulating the machine in Hyper-V and passing through 2 usb-based serial ports. Works like a charm!

My Huawei was still absolutely fine for me speed-wise. I moved to a Xiaomi 14 for a little while which was obviously faster but not in a "holy shit it's fast" sort of way.

The Pixel is slower than the Xiaomi in benchmarks but I can barely tell any difference in day to day usage.

Maybe if I went back to the Huawei it would feel slow but honestly I would still be using it if it had been updated. Unless the new OS slowed it down.

For home users I'd say the biggest thing that keeps them on Windows is gaming, but Valve have made excellent progress at getting games to run on Linux now.

For business users I'd say the biggest thing is Active Directory - being able to manage and micro-manage a fleet of hundreds or thousands of PCs by a small team is highly desirable.
