Looks like an interesting concept for a product. I don't have much experience selling to restaurants in particular so I can't comment on the business model, but I can offer a couple pieces of advice regarding how to sell software to small businesses:

1) Good job emphasizing "increase revenue". Software is an incredibly tough sell to SMBs if you aren't helping them decrease costs or increase revenue, so the more you emphasize the practical implications of your software the better.

2) The homepage is a little sparse on details. If I owned a restaurant, I'd want to see at least a bunch of screenshots, if not an interactive demo. Telling me that the product gives me happier customers is fine, but I really need to see what I'm going to be working on.

3) On the pricing page, a general tactic is to put real prices and see who clicks on which tiers. That way, you can see how many people would actually be willing to pay for your product and how many are just mildly interested.

4) When you get the emails, make sure you talk to them within a day. I've found that most potentially leads go down the toilet if you wait much longer, so you're going to want to engage them while they're interested.

Yeah, I had some odd symlink issues.

It definitely depends on your system configuration. Ideally, it shouldn't break, but however I had it set up was not happy about the upgrade. Did you use the built in Mac python or a new install from Python.org?

I don't know why they should be, but when I restarted my computer after the update I was greeted with a big fat broken virtualenv install, so I wrote this guide to help anyone else with the same problems.

Is this a graph of the rate of change (acceleration) of applications, or a graph of the raw number of applications submitted? Some labels might be helpful.

I'm a relatively new Strava user, and so far I have found it to be very helpful and motivational in my adventures into cycling. As an inexperienced rider, I'm usually a couple hundred spots down from the leaderboard, so seeing the fastest riders serves only to inspire me to push harder on my own rides. Without this motivation, I doubt that I would try as hard as I do on my recorded rides, so there is no question in my mind that Strava is at least partially a beneficial force.

However, there are certainly times on downhill segments where I have seen fastest time and shaken my head at the ridiculous speeds the riders had to go to win. I've marked my fair share of dangerous segments and I believe that is the users' responsibility to do so to prevent insane accidents like the ones listed in this article.

While I feel complete sympathy for the families of these victims, I don't believe that Strava is at all responsible for what they did. It was illegal, inconsiderate, and gives every other rider a bad name, and regardless of any leaderboards they may have been striving for they should have had more self restraint. Furthermore, I believe that cyclists like that would push themselves to speeds like that regardless of Strava, whether to beat their friends or just set personal records. Just like many other web apps, Strava provides a service that opens up data, and it is up to the user to use the data responsibly.

Besides being a pretty neat way to filter out companies that are willing to put a little bit of extra effort into their hiring process, this is also one of the few appropriate uses I've seen of the Lobster font ;)

If you understand Git well enough, then the only major difference Github adds is pull requests, which is a pretty intuitive concept once you understand Git branching.

Just a heads up for anyone tempted to run the code from the third question (bash script to play triforce through the system speaker), don't.

I know I'm an idiot for running random code, but I'll save you the suspense - it prints "rm -fr" but doesn't run it, and then prints a message berating you for running it, and insults the Q&A site.

Each function has its own cache, and the size of the cache is limited by the number of unique requests you make. How would this be a problem? (totally genuine question)

Also, if you have a better way of doing it, please totally fork and request a pull!

Since I am using the MediaWiki extracts API, I never had to find/write my own Wikitext parser. However, I did run into a couple in my research that seemed relatively popular:

I'm sure if you did a bit more digging you could find a C# library that does this, or you could roll your own pretty easily using the others as a model.

I'd really like to hear about this story from a college admissions officer's point of view.

While I'm sure that they can tell the difference between an application from one of these tutors and a "genuine" one like yours, I'm not quite sure I understand why they put up with it in that case.

The cursor clashes with the question mark that it hovers over before you type a number. Otherwise, really nice design!

Thanks for the feedback! Right now, it's graphing dy/dx = y*sin(x). You can change the function by editing the hard-coded function slopeFunc(x, y) at the bottom of the main file. (this was created when I was just learning JS, and I didn't know how to write a good parsing script to accept a function to graph).

As for the y(0) bug, I'm not really sure what's causing that. I have a feeling it has something to do with the way I scale the graph, because it was pretty hacky.
