Google is FUBAR 14 years ago

Seems to me google search results are the same as ever, they just put a G+ widget on the side and Twitter and Facebook peeps are upset they weren't included so they're calling it "evil".

Facebook Timeline 15 years ago

This is a very nice thing to have, if it were detailed enough that I could scan it and reminisce.

But if it were that detailed, I wouldn't want it made public.

Can we timeline privately?

There's a RadioLab episode where they explore this type of self-discipline (among other things). When a woman wanted to finally quit smoking, she told her friend that if she ever smoked again, the friend should take $5,000 out of her bank account and give it to the KKK. She couldn't bear the thought of her money supporting that group, and she never smoked again.

Edit: Here's the episode http://www.radiolab.org/2011/mar/08/ It's really quite good, like most RadioLabs.

There's an "upload your own mp3's" feature. I think this means I can stop waiting for google music.

Except:

> You have 5.0 GB of Cloud Drive storage. Upload your entire music collection.

I don't think this is going to work...

Why all the custom extensions/tracking software, and emphasis on compatibility with the last.fm api when you could get the same data by just pulling from last.fm?

Data ownership, maybe, but it also felt like a very heavy onboarding process. "Welcome! Now install these two browser widgets and some desktop client..."

I think he means something like, "Why not build a simple webapp that prints out a users schedule, that they can view on any phone, and can save as an icon if their phone supports that (iphone)"

It solves the problem you're trying to solve, requires minimal effort and is cross platform.
