Nope, that doesn't make any sense. Keep the shops open now and infection grows exponentially. Overwhelm the ICU capacity = MORE people will die. MORE people dead = less consumption = less people paying rent, etc.

There is no good solution :(

Unlike all other times before, our economy is over-leveraged like never seen before. The COVID-19 shut down of main street mom-and-pop stores will trigger a snowball effect onto wall street. However, cutting rates to zero and Trump throwing his last cards in will only kick up a temporary fix. In reality it is adding more fuel to the fire by further extending the leveraging, and thereby, volatility of the market, until this all crash into a giant complete free fall.

So disappointing. I really wanted to think he was just misquoted. But the attempt to cover up after-the-fact just made it worse -- "Hey, ladies, don't ask for a raise coz you should trust the system. But oh, btw, the system is broken, we should fix it." Either the system is working or not. Make up your mind before asking ppl to trust it.

Agreed, but I'd argue that striving for perfection in every detail is a bit of first world problem, and it also assumes availability of infinite resources. Starve a man for enough days, then give him a steak on a stick and I'll guarantee that he'll be happy just to tear the meat apart with his teeth caveman style, forget the formalities of napkin, plate and utensils. Same goes for software, esp. startups, where the first challenge is to get to having something that will do a right job however imperfectly, than the wrong job, however perfectly.

It's convenient to just blame LinkedIn for a friendship you evidently didn't have to start with. Nothing stops you from writing an email to the person first or immediately after you hit the "connect" button. Don't blame your own laziness on a tool.

As the non-tech person on the team, the greatest value I see is how fast it got us up and running. it was like a dream come true when jaigouk showed off how we can see live transactions appear in real time on our dashboard, making tracking activities a breeze, above all, it make proactively predicting when we should reach out to our users possible, which helped a lot in helping some of our users along in their transaction.

I don't think taste conflicts with problem solving skills. They can coexist - because design is choosing which solution to apply to a problem, and the choice reflects your taste / stylist preference. Rarely is there only one answer to a problem. Agreement in taste is important else it will be hard for you and your designer to move any design decision forward to implementation.

The list view works better for articles than the default tile view. I find myself creating two different types of collections: 1. lists of articles (bookmarks), and 2. collection of images (pinterest). Since I use them differently (1 for targeted search, 2 for visual inspiration), the different views work well for their respective purposes.

There is also a little hidden notes feature that lets me write simple mental notes. Good-bye clonky Evernote, too-much-distraction Pinterest, and out-of-sync browse bookmarks. Kippt FTW!

Go CMU! #1, 4 and 8 of the top 10 best colleges for your bank account as measured by highest salary!

However, while this can be a statistic to be proud about, I hope parents and kids don't use it as a yardstick to measure success. If any amount of money is to be used as a proxy for success, lifetime earnings should be the metric, not the highest starting salary.

A high starting salary may be sexy, but at what opportunity cost? When companies are willing to fork out such tremendous amounts in salary, it only means that you are worth so much more. For the new graduates from CMU - I hope you will think about WHY you are so valuable, and ask if maybe your time can be better spent elsewhere (at say, realizing your own dreams, or building your own startup) than to slave away for a paycheck.

Wow.. I guess I am late to this thread. But have any haters here actually tried to use Makr at all? I second Koji - when you're not just passively watching, but contributing is when the real fun begins! You become part of a conversation, almost a little competitive fun to outdo your friends. Not something you will find in random cat picture sites.

It's a joke that in this day and age the funding process that seeds silicon valley startups is only legal offline and to the privileged rich. Democratized access to small equity investments in germinating companies that may one day be giants, is exactly what is necessary to help the non-rich get richer too. The social and economical benefits of the need for this democratized access is real. Even if the SEC ruling does not go in favor of it next week, the US government should not and can not deny its citizens such benefits for much longer. It's clear that Funders Club has got the right idea of what needs to be in place to enable this change in history.
