Strategic Defence Review 2024: Call for Evidence
Thank you for engaging with the Strategic Defence Review.
The UK faces threats that are growing and diversifying: war in Europe; conflict in the Middle East; states across the world that are increasingly acting in ways that challenge regional and global stability as well as our values and interests; terrorist groups; hybrid attacks; and instability caused by climate change.
Therefore, on 16 July 2024, the Prime Minister launched a Strategic Defence Review (SDR) to ensure the United Kingdom is both secure at home and strong abroad – now and for the years to come.
It is to be Britain’s review – not just the Government’s – so will consult serving military, veterans, MPs of all parties, industry, and academia.
The SDR will be headed by three external Reviewers in a first-of-its-kind for UK defence:
Lord Robertson - Former Defence Secretary and NATO Secretary General (Review lead)
Dr Fiona Hill CMG - Foreign policy expert and former US presidential advisor
General Sir Richard Barrons – Former Commander Joint Forces Command and former Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff
This call for views sets out specific propositions to be answered that will help our team of reviewers. You are invited to provide responses to each of the propositions by no later than 30 September 2024. You will be allowed to submit up to 500 words per proposition. Please note you cannot submit a response more than once.Strategic Defence Review Terms of Reference: Strategic Defence Review 2024-2025: Terms of Reference - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
I was waiting for this...
Someone asked for this at one point.
I'm going to leave this article up and promise to provide better in-depth articles in this regard.
Smartphone array FTW!!!
"Hecker provided significant new details on Ukraine’s low-cost acoustic sensor array. Called Skyfortress, the system uses 9,500 sensors located across the Ukrainian countryside to detect threats."
I posted this because the symptoms mimic Alzheimer's.
Slightly interesting article:
"There are three groups of animals that showed the most pronounced rapid change in brain size: primates, rodents, and carnivores. In these three groups, there is a tendency for relative brain size to increase in time (the "Marsh-Lartet rule"). This is not a trend universal across all mammals, as previously believed."
John Carmack eat your heart out!
This is a really good in-depth X.com post on the F-35's radar capability complete with infographics and external links.
Interactive Time-lapse: Russia's War in Ukraine: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/733fe90805894bfc8562d90...
I think what matters most in this type of post is the type of discussion that results, even if it is off topic.
My news aggregation website is coming soon. It is just a matter of risk, reward, and maintenance with the site itself. If I had the funding and did not have to work a normal day job I would do it over night.
Cherry pick news articles that fit a certain theme and post them? Anyone can do that. Aggregate maps and data, sure.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't Russian trolls that flagged this post as it is the first or one of the first and the article is about Russian "death camps". I try to focus entirely on engineering and tech related to the war in Ukraine in hopes of recruiting and encouraging engineers and software developers to help improve the situation in Ukraine by improving their technological capability while also offering opportunities to participate and develop their careers at the same time.
I'm working on my work/information flow so I'm able to spread better tech related news here at HackerNews YCombinator.
I enjoy reading and contributing the highly technical articles as that is what we want here. We don't want low level shit here. Slipping in one of these off-topic related articles is okay every now and then but I thought it would be at least interesting for us to read something about the condition of prisoners and their deaths due to ill-treatment. The world needs to know.
The topics that I submit are mostly related to new technological developments in the defense industry. I try to give leads in new military technology so if engineers and software developers want to contribute or start a career path in the defense industry they have a leg up.
This particular post about Russian war crimes has over 60 comments which I think is significant and the post should not be flagged.
I am a high profile Ukraine War activist and what I post I think matters. Quite a few people in the defense industry and government read the posts that I submit to Hacker News YCombinator. I have a very large following in government and the international defense industries. I am working on a better work flow for news aggregation to bring more relevant up-to-date news to this community here and on X.com.
When it comes to war crimes and stories that relate to human atrocities I think an acception should be made here.
I emailed the admins to investigate why this post was flagged and by who.
None of my posts should be flaggable at this point. Probably Russian trolls?
This will trigger an immediate NATO response. NATO will deploy troops to Ukraine!
There is another link that has video and pictures that isn't hidden behind a NYT paywall:

3 minute lead time...
Ukraine has urged the U.S. and Europe to increase the training of F-16 pilots. They have 30 eligible pilots ready for training in the U.S., but the Biden administration has limited the training slots to 12 pilots due to capacity constraints in Arizona.
My civil rights were recently violated by a Detective Sergeant Supervisor of Orlando Police Department because he did not like that fact that I was meeting with politicians and was also a medical marijuana patient. He, his son, his wife, and his son's friends began harassing me for nearly 2 years after attempted reports to Internal Affairs and the Chief of Orlando Police Department Eric Smith.
The Detective Sergeant Supervisor eventually came into my workplace and Baker Acted me, placing me into a mental institution for 5 1/2 days. The moment I got out of the mental institution I reported him and a few other deputies to the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis. Governor DeSantis responded immediately by firing three deputies and eventually managing the internal affairs complaint himself after continued stalking and harassment from two of the deputies, their children, children's friends, their own friends and family members.
He is now indicted and I am pushing for an indictment for his son.
I'll just leave this here until it gets deleted or flagged.
Ukraine: Attack of the Drones
"A Ukrainian military technology device called Tsukorok detects if Russian drones such as ZALA, Orlan, or the kamikaze Lancet drone are above a soldier, prompting them to disperse or get out. However, as of now, Ukraine lacks a solution for the penetration of long-range Russian reconnaissance drones into its rear."
Attempting to encourage participation in the defense industries....a proof of concept laser pod for F-16's?
Nuts and bolts to everyone else.
G7 wants to wipe Russia from the trenches in Ukraine and take part of the bordering Ukrainian territory with Russia. All this article states is that it is a political message to British citizens to prepare for a war and prepare for the war to expand into a major conflict without mentioning how that could develop, it is essentially an over statement by Rishi Sunak.
I haven't done my research into foreign arms supply to Russia considering it pretends to be a world "super" power when it is not. They are importing ammunition and artillery rounds from North Korea, Iran, and Belarus. That's pretty pathetic for what was once a world "super power". Russia has a population of 143 million people and the United States and Europe have a combined population of 1.07 billion people. By the end of this century Russia will look more like North Korea than a modern European nation. Russia has more in common with North Korea than they do with the entire continent of Europe at this point, especially with their "current" government.
The Russian Federation's government is utter trash. Old, corrupt, white trash, still stuck in a Cold War mentality while forcing their entire country into their mantra of self destruction through forced conscription and a perpetual state of conflict with it's surrounding neighbors. The best solution for Russia's future is for them to overthrow their corrupt government like they did in 1989 and reinstate a democratic government that actually has the best interest's of it's own people in mind instead of sending them off into Ukraine to die en masse.
The United States and Europe are going to eventually send troops into Ukraine and it will be Europe first due to it being on the same continent as Russia with the United States guaranteeing that Europe and Ukraine take as little casualties as possible while guaranteeing the collapse of the Russian Federation's current government, this needs to be done with Putin as President as Russia so he can see the collapse of the Russian Federation like Adolf Hitler did in 1945, maybe we will get lucky and Putin will blow his brains out like Adolf Hitler did in the Fuhrer Bunker, most likely not. The Russian Federation will collapse after Europe and the United States attack Russian troops in Ukraine sometime this year or next in 2025. Once the Russians are being bombed and attacked by the United States the Russian front will collapse immediately.
I think that once the taboo of the United States attacking Russian troops in Ukraine that the Russian front line will collapse entirely as they will now know that the war is lost and that their current government is evil, ie including Vladimir Putin.
Note: This not an in-depth post or an analysis, this post is just a quick opinion to quickly add to the discussion on Hacker News.
This is a document that lists what 155mm artillery weapons that have been pledged and/or delivered to Ukraine by various NATO countries. It is updated using publicly available internet news sources.
This was premiered last night on YouTube. It showed 20 days of filming in Mariupol and the daily life of the locals which included footage of them being shelled with artillery and their families being killed with shrapnel and debri from the building collapsing and killing their children and family members. It also included the bombing of the Mariupol maternity hospital and the pregnant women getting killed by the collapsing building.
