Besides all this says is that it matters for blackstone...not for the housing market at large.
There are parts of the tech industry culture I dislike, but its definitely not endless meetings, micromanagement, and coworkers who work extra hours. Especially with regards to meetings and micromanagement, which I see the tech industry as having a very low amount of either compared to other industries.
I think there was also similar reports with Apple recently. There was some kind of emergency hotline contact or something like that where authorities could request information where it was extremely time sensitive (I think the example given was human trafficking? although my memory was hazy), and they would be provided information without a warrant.
Terrible behavior from Apple. Like petulant children.
Thank you for the article, although I don't tend to be too disparaging about these types of ingredients (I think) it's always a good reminder to be open minded and aware that you don't know others situations. And on top of that there's absolutely nothing wrong with making tradeoffs for convenience...and its also not necessarily good to take what people claim are tradeoffs as absolute truth.

I was interested in the topic but the snide tone was very difficult to get through.
If I had read it when I was much younger I might have enjoyed it, but I've read so much writing with a similar tone that at this point I consider comes off as cliched. Especially in combination with the verbal sparring with strawmen device.
I was able to get through it mostly, but my motivation decreased as I increasingly got the feeling that the author was researching in service of a pre-determined point rather than doing an "investigation" as claimed in the beginning.

All statistics are dehumanizing. I'm no data scientist but I'd imagine including the whole human when doing statistics would produce a pretty low signal to noise ratio.

If the data is contiguous in memory and frequently accessed it will almost certainly make its way into L1 cache and be there for the life of the program.
If the data is not contiguous it could make the CPU's life much harder.
There's also the matter of program size (the amount of instructions in the actual program) and whether the program does anything which forces it to go lower cache levels or RAM.
There are intrinsics for software prefetching such as __mm_prefetch, but those are difficult to use such that they actually increase you're performance.
