SEEKING WORK | US | Boston or Remote Compliance specialist with experience with privacy and data security frameworks from a systems background.

If you're in need of someone to audit your controls or help build out your security program to meet common security requirements I can help. If you're a non-profit looking for a hot audit of security concerns I'm happy to provide that at a lower cost than to help support your mission.

Common frameworks that I support and can help implement or assess against: - PCI DSS - HECVAT - CPPA - GDPR - SOC 2 - CISA - StateRAMP and TXRAMP aka NIST 800-53

Security & Compliance

Hey folks, I'm a security consultant with a focus on data privacy and compliance. Started in systems and transitioned from there to looking at the larger picture and helping the c-suite understand and mitigate business risks. I've helped folks achieve PCI DSS compliance and working now on my first RAMP certification. If you need a hand in tackling compliance issues or want to ask what makes sense for your organization send me a line.

Also an old boss C-level IT printed his daily agenda on an A4 and then noted in meetings against that. I don't have access to a printer but I appreciated the simplicity and that it made the attendees feel like they were getting proper attention as he didn't bring a computer in at all.

I use onenote with my own crappy markdown to prevent onenote from being "helpful" I do week plans with stuff for the week on top and meetings below . I used to do daily but the issue was that unless I read through each day for the week again nothing stuck. Format is as follows

  Week of May 31
  TASK
  TASK
  01 TASKDONE June 1

] 1400 June 1 Managed Service Provider Review
  Bob MSP CEO
  Sam MSP Sales engineer
  Self
  MEETING NOTES
\ What SLA do you provide?
\ Do you have a formal security plan?
= Action item from call treated like a task above

it's working much better and ensures I don't forget things. Review previous week on Mon and pull tasks forward and provide any critical feedback as required.

Yup you can pay for it as a plan by itself or you can snag a login from a friend or your work as an additional user. Also worth a shot though I've not tried would be getting an xfinity mobile plan and trying the login through that. Could also ask the chat rep too.

I've been doing van life for about a year and a half now. Zoom is the real killer and I try and steer my calls to audio as often as I can. I'm also a sysadmin/compliance consultant so I don't need as much screen time. My setup: Internet: Xfinity Wifi in city / TMobile Max for the road unlimited phone and 40GB tether. I've not yet tried to do all my zoom on the phone but in theory that would mean your Zoom wouldn't count against you. As some folks point out coverage gets crappy in the sticks and you'll need either ATT or Verizon to cover those holes. Laptop: HP 13 with a homemade lap desk and chairback Van: Ford handi that I converted Comfort: Meh, I've plans to improve the bed design but probably less of an issue for you folks.

I started out as a sysadmin getting certified in PCI compliance. After that I've moved to consulting and working on getting my CISSP and moving towards security and compliance with a systems focus. We'll see how it pans out but I appreciate the high-level view and reading contracts. I'm a terrible salesman though so finding additional gigs has been my sticking point.

Sysadmin/DevOps

I do managed services/infrastructure design for companies too small to warrant a full-time sysadmin or companies that have projects too risky for larger managed services teams to address confidently.

My background is in Linux of all flavors supporting ecommerce (Magento,PCI DSS) and Wordpress (PHP,Apache,NGINX) running on MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis. Tons of other tech so please see my resume or send me an email if you have specific tech questions.

My rate is $150 per hour but the rate decreases if billing on a project or retainer basis. I'm working on my own infrastructure projects part-time so available for projects of most sizes.
