Hi Aaron I'm interested in this space too, especially around the latter. The issue with money transfers U.S & regulatory practices hindering any innovative development on the international front. What have your experiences been with facecash in that area?

Some info on the phone I found on some site: <================================================>

In order to use Republic's $19 per month plan, you must purchase its specially modified LG Optimus smartphone. A clone of the Optimus S available from Sprint, Republic's Optimus includes software that manages the switch from Wi-Fi to cellular networks automatically. The software permanently runs in the background, so it is likely to have an impact on battery life when compared with a normal Optimus smartphone. The Republic Optimus costs $199 without any contract commitment.

I have a friend of mine who found himself in a similar situation. He is working on his PHD now. He approached the school staff and set up something where he would pay everything out of pocket even given his meager means this guy worked hard to pay off every penny.

This is nothing that is impossible, i hope it works out.

+1 for Minneapolis i live here and love this city, lived in other cities with better tech scenes, but imo this town has alot to offer.

yellowblkpk i'm assuming you live in the twin cities too, do we have good meetups tailored to an HN like community here? i haven't found anything good yet.

Thanks Adamgedde I support the community of hackers everywhere. And especially to lose such a towering figure within our community it's definitely painful.

condolences to the family.

Cool take on the roulette theme, but as far as signing up on your site goes i can't even enter my number. For example i enter my area code but i'm unable to continue to enter the rest of the number for some weird reason the cursor skips back to the area code box.

edit: i'm on chrome.. works on IE tho.

Pretty interesting to see an early look at facebook HQ in palo alto. Mark used a quite a lot of "so's" in the interview. Seems like the "other things" he talks about besides just being a college directory has worked out pretty well.

Quick question to HN users that are more informed. at this timeline who was funding facebook?

I'm trying to analyze data from Google on the amount of press that a vendor at the Minnesota State fair got this year using Google. So far i'm unable to get anything using Google insight or anything.

The vendor debut a new delicacy at the state fair called "Camel on a Stick" and i'm helping in getting him a better idea on feedback which has been great in the press but we need something substantial. for example it went from 400 hits on google prior to its debut to over 54,000 hits after its debut.

HN community i ask for your help in this endeavor thank you.
