What an irrational stretch of logic to conflate natural respiration with deliberately intending to harm someone. Breathing freely doesn't harm you, get over yourself or maybe get a therapist because this is an unhealthy degree of neuroticism and little science. And none of the solutions proposed come close to achieving the supremely simplistic view of a radical ideologue.

I definitely learned something intriguing today - thanks for sharing!
Define worst hit. Because this statement is blatantly wrong when factoring in population size, death rate, demographics and a bunch of other factors which exist in the real world and not your FUD bubble
This is absurd and disregard for the inalienable right to freedom. Your don't dictate what people must do to protect YOU - that's your responsibility. This narcissistic logic is the same that would dictate you lose weight and ride yourself of other comorbidities to protect society as a whole from viruses at all times...
If you're fearful, then get yourself a sophisticated portable air filtration system.
They literally made me do this when going to a doctor apt recently. Took it off and just used their stupid mask even though mine is safer for me when I don't have covid but am forced to go into an place where it's far more likely to be present.
Many of the vented masks come with N95 inserts as they are intended to filter inhaled air of particles - originally for mountain biking in dusty climates
Can you provide any evidence of this claim? A bandana can be any textile and certainly doesn't filter exhaled air. Being made largely of cotten and rarely washed, they also become virus spreaders if someone infected yet asymptomatic saturates a mask and proceeds to aerosol it around all day like a chum trail of plague.
Bandana is the worst option, especially compared to many vented masks actually use N95 filters preventing the inhalation of covid to begin with - and much more securely than your earloop equivalent
This is heart wrenching. How many millions more are in this situation? When do we start measuring these costs in the covid lockdown equation??
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/did-trump-impatiently-dump...
This is labelled as "miscaptioned" which is embarrassingly obvious politispeak for a LIE. Not only did Trump NOT dump ALL the food in the koi pond as fake news media breathlessly reported (with intentionally deceptive editing), but he was actually following the exact same action taken by Abe as a dignified courteous guest would do as a sign of respect for a highly regarded leader from a foreign culture.
You want more examples?
The very first line of the introduction has most blatant heavy handed QUALITATIVE assessment of ZeroHedge as an example of a conspiratorial site which is as antithetical to true science as you can get. In fact, the term conspiracy theory was itself developed by the CIA to discredit any leaks about various clandestine activities they intended to keep this way. This is a bad faith argument and sets the stage for everything to come, culminating in the true intention which is to continue the marxist left on free thought and speech.
Every single one of those "fact checker" sites is a known left leaning and supported entity with plenty of examples of mistruth.
It's ironic how both the left and right are at least pretending to want to reign in big tech, but for the exact opposite reasons...
Apartheid elected a man with no connections, wealth or experience to become the first black president twice in a row and retire a multimillionaire...
Seriously you should drop this extreme radical leftist fever dream perspective because it prevents you from having adult debates.
"Protestors" - right here you expose just how little credibility you have be neglecting literal violent riots, billions in property damage and theft, hundreds of assaults and dozens of murders and deaths that have come from this.
Seriously man, try as you may, you cannot Correct The Record of things people have seen and heard with their own eyes and ears for months
Snopes routinely picks up on unsavory truths regarding the left and then proceed on a campaign of disinformation warfare by distorting the truths into their own fabricated strawman that can be "debunked" while simultaneously spending a princely sum on SEO to insure searches for said unsavory truths are redirected to their fever dream. It's a DNC digital mercenary site and routinely muddies the waters at best.
Do a little reading up on the guy who started that site. While I generally prefer to criticize arguments instead of their presenters, the fact that this guy is an actual lying fraud says everything about his credibility - and also the leftist/progressive tribal cult that relish in his church
Saying this is asserting the "by any means necessary" doctrine whereby manipulation and misrepresentation are the first spots on the decent into outright propaganda and tyranny.
Why not disconnect your internet abs unplug from everything yourself if genuinely so concerned? At least prove your principled instead of just power hungry for control
These articles with no supporting evidence of any kind claiming to "debunk" anything is just attention grabbing drivel for the intellectually disinclined. Why the barrage posting to HN? Politics has no place here, especially the sleazy kind. Flagged
Kind of telling the article makes no mention of what degree this shifts "greenhouse gas" generation from cows to people. Quite ironc considering they are suggesting beans to be used.
So increasing taxes to pay politicians and their cronies who have been making those very decisions is the solution?
Wait, wait even better - making everything more expensive for everyone is going to somehow disproportionately benefit those who have less over those who have more? I've little doubt the absurdity of taxing ourselves to prosperity certainly sounds perfectly reasonable to people who stand to benefit from it, along with their parasitic electorate.
This is why climate change quackery keeps falling short - it's statist propaganda brought to you for the same people who created all current imbalance by the people aspiring to be their next crony beneficiaries
Explain "getting more than their fair share" in precise terms please, taking into account progressive taxation. I'll wait.
I have this. It's ok but you get wildly variable readings if you don't keep your forearm perfectly rested and flat on a surface. Even then it's going to vary a lot. Wrist based blood pressure readings are never going to be that precise unfortunately
I'm not disagreeing with this, but you'd be surprised just how much VB still exists in the wild. Literally billions of dollars in revenues in financial service industry alone. Some trading desks use VB and Excel for the majority of trading. It's an abomination of epic proportions and well beyond critical mass, but it still exists precisely because of the reasons you mention - non-developers with some technical competency depending on it.
Whole other debate on benefits and drawbacks if this sort if thing however..
This article is so loaded with innuendo and written by someone who doesn't know much about the topic. The QAnon part is comically inaccurate. What you can do is more research if you really care.
Better yet, start with the reading the constitution and then progress to why free speech is so important. Because the alt-left is trying to kill the first amendment in the exact same way and for the exact same reason they're trying to kill the second amendment - to control people. That's far more dangerous than any silly image board as evidenced by all the wars and innocents killed for nothing by these people.
Words and weapons don't hurt or kill - it's the people who wield them. And the ones who try to restrict these inherent rights are the worst offenders.
This is political nonsense and doesn't belong here
I very much doubt you'll see any fugitive enhancement and in the two decades I've been cycling on and off supplemental Creatine for my workout regime, I can't speak for any such gains.
Creatine is both synthesized by the body and consumed in meat. The vast majority of it goes into skeletal muscles where it functions as an ATP recycling compound, something these cells consume a lot of. Small amounts are found inn the blood and brain add well but not nearly as much.
It may provide a small boost if you're low on blood sugar simply from providing some extra energy and drawing water into the cell - but it's not much more than you would get from simply consuming energy rich compounds like sugars or carbohydrates. It does certainly provide significant physical performance enhancement by increasing endurance, reducing muscle fatigue and generally providing greater muscle "pump" from it's cell volumizing qualities. Thus I'd say that the only cognitive gains one would experience would be from the added satisfaction coming from better performance and improved physique - ie. A placebo effect of sorts. However, depending on the importance of physical fitness to an individual, this can be substantial. My improved workouts and increased strength definitely put me in a much better mood and provide greater motivation for my intellectual endeavors. Ironically, because it can supercharge workouts, it can leave one with substantial mental fatigue immediately after such workouts at which point you're better off taking a break to recover before doing any mentally intense stuff
Sharing laptops like bowling shoes and being forced to sync everything with cloud for privacy pillaging - outside of a grade school context, this is the apocalypse scenario to me.
If you're willing to pay top dollar, I highly recommend the B&O Play by Bang and Olufsen Beoplay H8 wireless/wired headphones. I got these at an airport a few years ago when I forgot my AKG headphones and am convinced they are the best to be had. The sound quality is phenomenal and the active noise cancellation is superb. They have a removable battery which is huge for headphones at this price range ($500) and they can last 14 hrs on a single charge which is best in class. But if battery goes dead, can always plug them in an use as wired headphones (though worth mentioning that you lose the noise cancellation which sucks if say you're watching an in flight movie). The best feature is the touch interface for stop/start, volume control, skip/previous track, activate/disable noise cancellation and answering calls. It's resistive touch which means you can use it without removing your gloves which is huge!
Build quality is phenomenal and they're surprisingly low profile. My first pair actually had a problem with the touch interface and B&O not only replaced them, they expedited shipment so I'd get them in time when I explained I had a long trip coming up - so great support.
The only drawbacks are:
- they're on-ear which takes some getting used to, especially early on before the band takes shape to your head and can press to your ears. However, the padding is very soft and even replaceable! I now believe on ear produces the best accuracy as there's no acoustic reverberations and feedback that you can sometimes get with over ear. However, over ear is more comfortable and even after breaking these in, you'll still get ear fatigue after some hours of use. That being said, I've fallen asleep for hours on flights wearing these and not even playing music as the noise cancellation completely eliminates engine noise and most external sound in general
- they cannot be charged and used at the same time, even if using the wired lead. This is probably the biggest drawback though at 14 hrs play time and having a replaceable battery, this can be mitigated
- the previously mentioned drawback of not having noise cancellation when using them wired is annoying because the noise cancellation is exceptionally good
- they don't fold in any way, so you need to consider how to carry them if not in use. I usually just extend the headphones and keep them around my neck. In general though, you'll find the higher quality headphones won't be foldable as that's an easy point of failure
They're pricey but I've tried a number of other brands and the features/sound quality of these are far and away the best to be had. Not to mention, they look great when worn unlike most others that look cheep or goofy in their bulk. Highly recommend
Amazon has them on Prime: https://www.amazon.com/Bang-Olufsen-Wireless-Headphone-Cance...
It's always great to see lowest common denominator arguments in this debate - like this happens outside social networks both before they existed and indefinitely into the future. Immediately after the unsubstantiated claims of information overload are made, these same companies go ahead and insert additional entirely unsolicited commercial advertisements into the feed/results - because business...
Meanwhile the much more genuine solution would be to simply release the deluge of data and allow the users to curate it themselves - but then they would have less ability to subliminally compel users and also risk overwhelming/under-reaching users with ads.
The real problem is the "free service" sham repeatedly echoed as justification for user tracking. I suspect the not too distant future, it will be common knowledge that the rampant pillaging of information and user privacy violations committed by companies like Google and Facebook out of sheer greed will in fact be the highest cost anyone can pay for a trivial, non-essential service. In the meantime, I'll continue doing my best to fool these tracking systems and then complain how they fail to generate the content I desire
They would probably prefer that as well
People need their totems and need for them to be simplistic and singular to classify them as black or white. No thought given to things like government MANDATING increased numbers of subprime loans to facilitate a populist agenda, nor the guilt of the vast majority choosing to live beyond their means knowingly. Instead, they want a boogey man everyone can point their blame towards. The degree of that folly will be apparent over the years to come
Uh, he was right unless you missed the part where the 28 year old was replaced by someone even older than the author.
There's something the vast majority of millennials seem to lack and that is respect for the wisdom that comes with age. This doesn't say anything else that necessitates a defensive posture or taking a chip on one's shoulders - though another character flaw of applying and seeing everything in the light of themselves generally causes this. This is the naivete of youth and unfortunately most don't even realize as much until they are way past their youth
It wasn't just colors - it's toys and candy walls and obvious childish behavior
