If you are just looking for an affiliate tracking system: http://www.hasoffers.com and http://www.offerit.com are very cheap solutions that should be able to do everything you need.

If you are looking to add your "offer" to an existing affiliate network with an existing publisher base then you should look into Commission Junction, Clickbank, LinkShare, ShareASale, etc. Many networks specialize in different verticals. Be sure to do your research.

I won't be in Manhattan this Friday but I live on Long Island. It would be nice to coordinate a HN meetup though!

It's only useful for prototyping or testing code in my opinion. I would never suggest hosting a live site on a service like this!

http://www.brace.io offers this but also has a separate staging environment which is very useful!

+1 - that's the reason. Same reason why Facebook collects demographic data, interests, favorite tv shows, martial status, etc. It's all targetable.

I wish the tech scene on Long Island, NY was a tenth of what it is in NYC. It's amazing how the culture dies within a few miles of NYC. Is this the same on the west coast?

As a person who majored in Computer Information Systems but is considered a "business person" (ecommerce manager) I can confidently say that this problem does exist in the workplace by most "business people". It doesn't only happen at small/mid size companies. This problem exists even at the enterprise level. We are very highly ranked in the IR500. (top 100)

The way to overcome this problem is make very clear to executive "business people" how risky/costly (change management, bugs, etc.) a relatively small problem could create.

For example in ecommerce if you make a "minor" change to the checkout process which results in the site not accepting orders, or even a small percentage of orders the damages would be substantial at a financial, and customer level.
