I was looking at an Ecosa Sleep ad on facebook a few months ago and considered purchasing one of their mattresses, until I read some of their comments.

They claim their mattresses are better because of reduced EMF radiation (compared to traditional mattresses with springs) and when i called them out on their pseudo-science bs I got a nasty reply telling me I was wrong and to do some research!

I did the same thing. I'd suggest that a double-tap/click on the cropped area should confirm the crop.. At least that was my first instinct.

The official name is Node.js. That repo is the combined source of Node.js 0.12 and io.js master and future releases will be coming from there.

I think the next major release will be "Node.js v4.0.0"

Just getting started here and wondering if there's a way to choose the region all this stuff is being installed to?

Can apps be launched in specific regions?

edit: Looks like it defaults to us-east-1. I'd much prefer to use Sydney due to the latency here in AU :)

I love Candy Japan but do have a couple of suggestions:

- The email you send out is great, but it often arrives well after I have received the package. One arrived a couple of days ago and I really want to wait on the email, but my willpower is usually no match for (possibly) delicious candy :/

- The email always goes to spam. Maybe check your DKIM settings or contact MailChimp? Or maybe it's just me? (Gmail / Google Apps)

- A small card with the name/photo/short description of each item would be great. If they were well designed and of decent quality I'd even collect them!

I backed a project on Kickstarter back in July '04 called BloomSky. It's a connected smart weather station with a sky facing camera. They haven't shipped yet but it looks pretty good!

Pro tip: Add an 'npm' shortcut to your chrome address bar. Link it to http://ghub.io/%s and 'npm <packagename>' will take you directly to the repo.

You can also do this in the shell with 'npm repo <packagename>'

Off topic: This is the first I've seen of BitNami and it looks great, especially the cloud hosting app. I'd switch from our current system (mainly AWS tools and shell scripts for app deployment) in a heartbeat but there's no way I can justify $599/mo for 10-15 servers. I'm surprised you don't use a PAYG pricing model like most of the IaaS providers out there..

We've been using Gemfury[1] for our private modules which has worked out well, no problems in over a year of use.. though I'd probably switch over to npm if they offered private hosting.

I did this for a while, it's easier to spot missing commas and allows you to comment out lines (besides the first line) but I switched back because it was annoying to align :/

There were a few of his projects going this way but he recently reached out for maintainers[1] and things are looking better now.

I do similar work so I guess I can chime in with my experience here.

I went from a 2011 13" MBA to an early-2013 15" rMBP and found the difference to be massive. The main benefits being the incredible display and a pretty decent cpu/gpu/ram upgrade. After using the retina for a couple of weeks I opened my MBA (which was gathering dust on a shelf) and couldn't believe how bad the screen looked in comparison.

However I do miss the battery life and boy does this thing get HOT. It's summer here in Brisbane and yesterday (it was around 35c) my CPU got to 106c.. my lap did not enjoy.

But yeah I definitely recommend the retina. Be sure to max out the RAM too.

I recently added a 27" haswell iMac to my collection which was another massive improvement. I've been doing maintenance on an old node.js app that has a pretty crazy build process and compared the runtime on each of the machines - The MBA took just over 3 minutes, the rMBP about 1.5 minutes and the iMac did it in under 20 seconds! I still spend most of my time on the MBP though :)

I find the best approach is to render the initial view server-side and then render any future requests client-side with data from your API. That way your site will be super fast and can be indexed by search engines.

If you're using node.js then you can even use the exact same template rendering code.

We also have the cheque/savings/credit buttons which I've not seen anywhere else in the world (besides NZ). I have my Westpac debit card set up to use cheque/credit for my personal account and savings for my joint account, but I've not met a single other person who makes use of this feature..

I lived in West End, Brisbane for a while and due to the closing of the local ADSL exchange (to build a new childrens' hospital) Telstra upgraded the whole area to FTTP.

Getting it set up was a nightmare but this was entirely the fault of our ISP (DoDo are the worst.) After it was installed I had 3 months of perfect internet access until moving out of the area! Shame I could only order 30mbit at the time.

Even babies and dogs can contribute.

You can play with them just now in 0.11.2 if you run node with --harmony or --harmony-generators. Can't really use them in modules until it's in core though.

I'm the same way with 150+ tabs open just now. Bookmarks just don't work for me..

Every so often I go through the tabs and bookmark anything still relevant, not that it ever helps me find it again.

I'd really hoped we'd have more support for IPv6 by now. It's funny, every so often there's a big "We need IPv6" push with lots of media coverage which is forgotten about shortly afterwards.

As far as I know there's only one ISP (Internode) here in Australia which offers IPv6.
