The truth is that the US can no longer afford to be the police of the world, and as this recent Houthi situation has shown, lacks the capacity to do so. What's even more worrisome is the nuclear arsenal of the US could fall into the wrong hands in the event of a civil war - with the upcoming presidential election. Disarmament, of conventional and nuclear weapons, should be a long term goal of the US.

Sounds like confounding bias. Seven-Day Adventists abstain from cigarettes, a main contributor to early death. Also any diet that avoids the standard American diet will probably increase your lifespan, even veganism, though probably less so now with all of the processed vegan foods. That has no bearing on whether veganism is an optimal diet for human longevity, it just implies that the standard American diet is a poor diet. If you look at countries with the highest meat consumption - Hong Kong and Australia - they also have the longest lifespan.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6654568/ “It is concluded that evidence was found for the thesis that abstinence from cigarette smoking is the main factor explaining the low mortality from ischaemic heart diseases among SDAs”

That study doesn't measure IQ.

"In this respect, the battery of tests should not be considered an IQ test in the classic sense, but instead, is intended to differentiate aspects of cognitive ability on a finer grain. The tests had been optimized for application with older adults and people with mild cognitive and motor impairments."

I have nothing against pg, except for the fact that when he said something I found absurd I had to mute him on Twitter. I don’t find propagandist compelling at all and have no interest in reading the outcome of their thoughts.

Search engines are a nuisance and only an intermediary between your query and the answer. I find myself broadening my scope of questioning while using OpenGTP because those questions were limited by the search engine’s capacity to answer them. Processing irrelevant information is an impediment to the curiosity of learning.

Drinking green tea doesn't seem to produce the same hepatoxicity as seen with green tea extract taken in pill form. The problem is the high catechin concentration of the extract and the large acute dose.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29580974/

"Average green tea consumption was reportedly three cups per day among tea drinkers (Hakim et al., 2003; Kaegi, 1998; Khokhar and Magnusdottir, 2002), while in some countries it could be as high as ten cups per day (Muramatsu, 1991)"

"Our review supports that consumption of GTE or EGCG in bolus dose, but not green tea consumed as a beverage or part of the diet, is causally associated with hepatotoxicity"

"Evidence from animal studies demonstrated that hepatotoxicity risk rose with increasing concentrations of catechins and EGCG"

"Hepatotoxicity was clearly absent in the animal studies in which GTE or EGCG was administered in the diet or drinking water despite that concentrations of catechins in the test materials were greater than that of a traditional green tea infusion (> 68% w/w)."
