I used to have your viewpoint, but after reading Lee Kuan Yew, and after several hours of cross referencing various interviews with the pro-rioters/hk democracy, and pro-engagement/neutral hongkongers, I conclude that most of the pro-rioters like Joshua Wong/Jimmy Lai at large fail to articulate anything of value other than "I want to turn the system upside-down" , while pro-engagement/neutral people know they want upward social mobility and more government involvement in fixing the housing and employment crisis.

There's a difference. Compare tiktok getting banned to blocking asml, microchips, etc, there's no contest. One is core to technological advancement, the other is not a necessity. If the USA doesn't want China to compete on their turf then that's fine, but they're preventing china from competing in all other countries as well

I actually find the immediate feedback from khan academy exercises better than school actually. The feedback loop is much more tighter instead of waiting an entire week later for results and not really getting another go at it. I also tend to zone out or miss something in the lecture, and that missed thing is what builds the entire foundation for everything else and then the entire lecture is pointless. With video based lectures, I can pause, go back, play 2x speed, look at multiple well produced explanations, etc. Ultimately I don't find face to face all that valuable a various amount of subjects.

I found this podcast about the author and the motivations for the book quite interesting, tl;dw , UGRAD textbooks are a huge mess forced by a committee of profs trying to get the most broad one that will cover the needs of most classes among other things.

Yep, compared to MediaWiki(last time I set it up was like ~7 years ago) it was such a hassle to setup. I think my main complaint about Doku is that it's built on PHP. I haven't tried to hardcore customize things other than installing plugins and templates though so I can't say how easy it is to extend.
