Is this going to support IAM authentication like Aurora for MySQL does?

Docker, Inc employees have popped in to make an offhand comment at various points, similar to the one you made "On the other, providing strict guarantees about context ensures true portability of Dockerfiles." but actual participation is nonexistent.

This has been the case on other issues I have seen as well, either things languish, or they get magically swept into the project, with the decision happening elsewhere.

Stewardship would mean actually explaining the position above, and discussing with the community how the issue affects them in order to gain an understanding of what we are talking about.

Yelling "repeatability" with no context and then disappearing is pretty frustrating.

The stewardship of community contributions seems particularly poor in Docker. One of the more frustrating projects I have tried to help, and is really the only red flag. The promise of docker is awesome.

Copying files willy nilly without any etiquette around packaging doesn't seem like a good standard to me.

Interesting, but only seems to go half way. Half the battle is getting library maintainers to package things in a sane manner.

It works on the Mastercard PayPass hardware. Adoption is already pretty far down the road on the POS side.

At the current value, they are already rich and probably not forlorn.

If it becomes a runaway train towards this endpoint, this would give bitcoin >10x current M1, while retaining the ability to pay in $.01 increments.

Had the same experience with Appcelerator. Not knowing Objective-C it was a lot easier to get ideas into code quickly for prototyping, but when I ended up having to read all of their source and writing custom modules to get what I wanted done I decided it was not worth it. (Side benefit: this is how I got comfortable w/ Objective-C)

If your app is brochureware or a simple web app port to mobile it probably works well. If you are pushing anywhere on the edges it starts to get difficult.

Organize your application really well and it will be easy to port between the two platforms for any models/libraries you write where the concepts are the same.

The problem with this approach is that you can only remember a few passwords like this, which means that you are going to reuse passwords on multiple sites. One site compromise can compromise multiple accounts for you.

Firstly, my comment was qualified with the word 'philosophical' not 'practical'.

Secondly, many people have different understandings of capitalism, and pop culture has continued to remove meaning from the word, which is probably why you are having a hard time understanding my comment.

The examples you cite are perfect examples of the opposite of capitalism: socialized institutions (or the government directly) using violence as a means to an end, either political or economic in nature.

For reference here is the jist from Wikipedia, which leaves a little to be desired but is still pretty decent:

"Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately owned and operated for profit; decisions regarding supply, demand, price, distribution, and investments are not made by the government; Profit is distributed to owners who invest in businesses, and wages are paid to workers employed by businesses."

Agreed, which is why I tried to couch it in 'philosophical' argument. Discussing the various factions of socialism, anarchism, libertarianism, etc is always fun, but rarely leads to anything productive.

I am just glad that we currently can organize rather freely (even if we are forced to give over nearly half of our labor to war, health and retirement ponzi schemes, subsidizing heterosexual marriage, or whatever it is that you disagree with personally), and think that everyone should spend energy on making that more possible, and more neutral within our current framework(s) rather than trying to decide how people should organize themselves in the end.

It is very simple. A purely capitalistic society can contain, tolerate, and even encourage totally egalitarian organizations in any form the participants deem prudent. A purely socialist society on the other hand cannot tolerate capitalistic organizations in its midst.

Violence is embedded in the assumption that society can be organized in a socialist manner.

"self-organized collectives" are abundant in western capitalism, we usually refer to them as corporations. The terms and agreements between parties in these organizations vary but many fit your ideal.

The philosophical difference between socialism and capitalism, is the willingness to accept violence and coercion as a means to mold society to a specific vision.

Gotta love the confidence. You are talking about price inflation, the parent is talking about currency inflation.

Maybe you guys should stick to Merriam Webster's definition which masterfully butchers them into one:

Totally agree, it would need to be accompanied by a corresponding change in the culture of governance (and is highly unlikely), but one can wish.

If it is a rule, it's a rule. There is no reason why every law could not be broken down into one page. Right now ( in the US) we have these massive changes that are encompassing thousands of new rules or modifications to existing rules.

This is a bad idea for the same reason that pushing massive untested changesets into an application would be a bad idea. Incremental, atomic changes that could be revoked is a much better practice on nearly every front (except for maintenance of the power of politicians)

This along with a word limit to new laws (1 page), and version control, so that instead of adding 100 pages amending 1000 random clauses, we, you know actually amend the document.
