All multi level marketing companies are cultish by nature. Realities such as market saturation simply don't exist, you're just not working hard enough / recruiting hard enough.

I spent a lot of time in south Florida, where it seems everyone in non-professional careers is hustling the newest MLM. The MLM recruiters are in turn driving their recruits into workshops like Landmark Forum, which is not a cult but is certainly cult-like. It promises the participant a "breakthough" in personal or professional life, but nearly everyone who participates in Landmark is there primarily to increase their MLM recruiting fu.

No Exit 12 years ago

Investors arrive at an amount based on their estimate of the company's value and the share of equity they receive in return for their investment. If the founders then get commitments from additional investors, the company would have to attain a much larger value at exit time (i.e., IPO or purchase) for any of the investors to get a reasonable return. When done with consent it's called overcommitting. When done without consent, it's called fraud.

Whoa:

"To this end, we now make our first clear demand of Google. We demand that Google give three billion dollars to an anarchist organization of our choosing. This money will then be used to create autonomous, anti-capitalist, and anti-racist communities throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. In these communities, whether in San Francisco or in the woods, no one will ever have to pay rent and housing will be free. With this three billion from Google, we will solve the housing crisis in the Bay Area and prove to the world that an anarchist world is not only possible but in fact irrepressible. If given the chance, most humans will pursue a course towards increased freedom and greater liberty. As it stands, only people like Kevin Rose are given the opportunity to reshape their world, and look at what they do with those opportunities.

We know that your security advisors are taking our analysis seriously..."

It's pleasing to me that writers like OP shed light on the folly of the personal productivity and efficiency arms race. Reminds me of the adage: "Don't just do something, sit there!"

Their conclusion, while ingenuine, is not surprising. Since the Bancroft family sold the publication, the Wall Street Journal editorial board has become a propaganda mouthpiece for Rupert Murdoch.

Beyond the sports metaphor, it seems you're really getting at the metaphor of an ecosystem. The ecosystem-like view really deserves to be more the status quo in this world than a refreshing aberration.

I'm glad to see so few commenters dismissing the subject because of their own lack of perspective, and so many commenters articulating their experiences so well.

The Internet--which incidentally owes its current incarnation to so many acid-dropping individuals--has provided many forums (fora?) for truthful discourse about these substances. Those who have had experience with LSD together have a voice that is going to drown out the insane, fearful rambling propaganda of the prohibitionists. It's safe to say we've reached a tipping point, and it's only a matter of time before we recover our freedom to explore our minds. Respect.

This is a really cool development.

Depending on context, there may be cases where I want a strict search. Other times I may want Soundex-style (phonetic) matches, matches based on word form (different tense, number, gender, etc...), or matches based on common misspellings.

Having already built a couple of apps with IndexTank, I'm curious about controlling the degree of fuzziness in an API call. Can this be controlled through a parameter on a per-query basis?
