Weirdly, normally new ChatGPT releases are head and shoulders above anything else, but according to OpenAI's own evaluation, Anthropic's Mythos outperforms ChatGPT in quite a few benchmarks: https://openai.com/index/gpt-5-6/.

ChatGPT 6 must be deep in the pipeline and will be released within the next few months. Maybe that's why this release is versioned 5.6, not 6.0.

I love it but how do people tolerate the Steam launcher? Why is it a requirement to launch ages old games that lost support aens ago and do not even support Windows 10/11 and the best way to launch them is under emulation or virtualization, e.g. in Windows XP, but modern Steam is not compatible with XP, so ... you're screwed?

Valve could have made `steam.dll` optional for really old games but DRM is DRM and it's here to stay.

Codecs are final (the only exception being H.265 with a couple of later additions/extensions that required new codec IP and were not that widely deployed or supported). They are not software. You cannot have upgrades for fixed function HW decoders (which is a must for pretty much any established codec and AV2 will be also one of them).

LLMs, while not yet AGI, have shown tremendous progress, and are actually useful for 99% of use cases for the average person.

I happen to be on Fedora Linux 42 and Windows 11 but my primary OS has been Linux for almost 30 years now.

Idle power consumption under Windows and Linux is exactly the same. Linux doesn't have any magical tricks to make it lower.

Windows has more services running in background but they don't meaningfully affect idle power consumption at all.
