Claude enterprise plans are 30-40x more expensive vs the consumer plans.

I used to spend $200/mth on the Max plan at a small startup. Now spending single digit thousands on Claude enterprise with the same usage levels.

Anthropic is subsidizing consumer usage, and also charging a nice margin for enterprises for zero data retention (ZDR)

I feel like this piece is framed incorrectly.

Imagine joining an organization with 3k employees in 2025 and not having access to an LLM.

It’s well known that the federal govt over-classifies many documents. This former CISA head alleged dumped “for official use” documents. Obviously, he should have pushed for the chatgpt enterprise account (or equivalent) but we dont know what bureaucratic obstacles he was up against.

How will commodity producers (oil companies, farmers) hedge their risk / stabilize their prices without speculators and their “perverse incentives”?

The crew of the IRIS Dena were warned twice by the US to abandon ship according to a report from one of the sailor’s father. They refused.

Not sure if it’s possible to treat enemies better than that. And I doubt the Iranians will treat a US pilot well. Look at how they treat their own citizens.

The US government and private interests are clearly incentivized to keep the crypto industry subdued to a chaotic casino. Participants engage willingly. If crypto is legitimized, it threatens the US dollar, sanctions regime and the US’s ability to project power as the world leading reserve currency.

The president and any other shitcoin operator know this and are playing the game on the field.

Every country has the same challenge. Some ban crypto, which pushes it to the grey market in those jurisdictions.

Hopefully that helps explain why there weren’t and wont be any consequences.

Companies created these traps not to screw customers but to thwart fraudsters. There are SO many worldwide - see annual fraud loss stats.

Paypal and many other companies that trade in valuables have to put up protections because there are almost no reprecussions for perpetrators in certain foreign countries.

I would support a law that makes this a required disclosure in rental listings, like asbestos. In some cities, commercial buildings are issues a public facing grade on their energy efficiency. Why not other forms of commercial real estate like multifamily?

The status quo is the energy costs are hidden and only revealed one month after you move in.

The $100 does become a liability on your balance sheet. You’re right that interest doesnt and is an expense.

In the context of this post, does it matter? He’s not teaching bookkeeping here. He’s explaining the time value of money.

There have been at least a half dozen of these deals in the past 1-2 years including Google “licensing” CharacterAI to pull their founders back into Google as valued employees.

In the deal mentioned above: my guess is that preferred class shareholders and common shares got paid out but the common shareholders had such a low payout that it rounded down to zero for most employees.

This can happen even in a regular acquisition because of the equity capital stack of who gets paid first. Investors typically require a 1x liquidation preference (they get their investment back first no matter what).

There are vendors like Emailage that somehow determine the age of email addresses. Very useful because fraudsters tend to buy credit cards and bank accounts, then need to complete the identity by registering an email address for that identity.

Historically, outlook emails have been very easy for this compared to gmail addresses, which require phone numbers, etc.

Yes, dominance is preferred. Countries’ resources aren’t evenly distributed, and this fact determines foreign policy more than anything else.

There’s no world govt or global authority. Every country must look after its own interests.

Having every country cooperate requires trusting some entity as a global enforcer, one that wont abuse their unchecked power. Obviously, america has played this role since ww2 but not without plenty of mistakes and oversights.

We as humans haven’t found an alternative to this yet.

The fiat financial system (aka wall st and main st banking) is heavily regulated on a state and federal level.

Yet after over a decade, the government explicitly did not regulate crypto despite significant overtures from the industry. Nothing other than enforcement actions, until very recently.

This, to me, implies that the government does not want to regulate it proactively because they don’t want to legitimize it.
