It becomes a problem when vitriolic responses like that (death threats, etc) are taken as indicators of the entire community. It absolutely needs to stop, and we all need to work together to stop it. However, most people aren't insensitive, sexist assholes, and that's important to keep in mind (I'm not saying you claimed otherwise).

Yea, I love Prime videos. The author here is extrapolating about the entire Prime subscribership based on his personal experiences. That's a terrible way to write an article.

I really like the idea, but the name is somewhat offputting, especially if I were in a position where I had to sell it to management (luckily I'm not). Will definitely give it a whirl, but I strongly suggest considering a name change.

So Fez underwent a somewhat significant API overhaul in the last few weeks. Now it is much more of a DSL, but is also much more expressive.

I'm worried that perhaps it's a bit too esoteric. I am confident in every design decision we made, but I want to make sure that those decisions are as transparent as possible. If you find some explanation lacking, please let me know so that I can update the documentation!

Not too bad, actually. For a moment I was thinking about how it might be useful to embed large datasets directly in the page, but it wouldn't be even remotely worth the sacrifice in usability. Just make one extra HTTP request and give the user a nice spinny icon.

Oh man, this was amazing. I just starting giggling and broke out into full out hearty laughter because it was so fun. I couldn't play more than 30 seconds, mind you, because it was infuriatingly difficult, but amazing nonetheless.

Unfortunately, the poster already talked to them. This wasn't a question of how to proceed legally, nor was it a complaint about the company. It was an appeal to the startup community about the morals of suing, potentially successfully, a young startup.

I had very good support for mental health troubles at NYU. I never harmed myself, so it is very possible that I would have had a different experience in this student's shoes, but it did wonders for me to feel cared for. I can only imagine how terrible it would be to have a support system open up from under you.

I haven't seen Brunch before, but it still seems to suffer from the same major flaw as Grunt, which is no sense of file-file relationships:

"Brunch recompiles and concats all your stuff automatically on any change, headlessly. No more need in compicated Makefiles and watchers."

Perhaps I'm wrong, but Brunch just seems like a variant on Grunt with a lot more out of the box for building front-end web applications.

1) Since it only does the work that needs to be done, you can safely 'watch node fez.js' and if there have been no file changes, nothing will be done! This won't work on Windows, of course, but then I'm not sure if anything else in Fez works on Windows anyway. I'll have to get that going here soon.

2) You can do pretty much whatever sort of transformation you want in an operation. In fact, if you want I can take a look at your code and implement that socket.io appending feature with Fez myself just to show how it can be done.

This is a really cool idea! I can almost see a website existing whose sole purpose is the auction and sale of software technology.

It's not really an issue for me. I have four cards and don't mind having them all in my wallet. What seems to have happened is a bunch of people with the same idea panicked and put out releases at the same time to avoid looking like copycats.

This is interesting, but not really much more practical than etching (albeit cleaner). It's a neat proof of concept and that's about it.

We try really hard to come up with ways to use technology to create value, but there are heaps of opportunities like this one to curate a product by hand and deliver value derived from your knowledge and experience, rather than some clever hacking.

I suspect the difference between hacking the NSA website and hacking the NSA's central computer system is more than subtle

I like this but I don't like that it's branded as a Medium clone. Be that as it may, I wish it would stand on its own as a unique solution despite the apparent similarities.

The only difference is that they brand it as a feature rather than something you have to put up with in exchange for a free service.
