It's actually a matter of proving it was copied and not written like that on account of, you know, good coding practice.

So true. A price point is definitely missing there. I'm thinking something in the $35-$40 range.

A lot of back and forthing of Word documents, some of them 10-20 MBs in size... but hey, it's work, I have to do it.

I'm storing all my email since '03 (I had a major Outlook PST corruption and lost all mail prior to '03 before I IMAP-ed all my emails up to Google Apps)

It's just every single piece of email I've received or sent out during that time and while it also includes emails w/photos sent to friends and stuff like that, as well as work-related email, I want to keep every single one of those messages.

PS: Right now I have 68937 messages in my All Mail folder when checked out via IMAP and I'm using 23176 MB (90%) of my 25600 MB. And it's growing by about 1GB every month so I'm running out of time...

Too bad Going Google (Premier) limits you to that 25 GB/user...

There is no extra storage. None. I will be reaching my 25 GB limit by August 1st. I pay Google my $50 per Google Apps user and I can only get 25 GB. No more space. Period. WTF is up with that? I can't even pay for an extra user and get that space assigned to my user.

Now I have to plan a setup for my own email server and migrate all my friggin data if Google doesn't add this soon.

And one more thing that makes Mobile Me effing annoying. If you want to import mail from Gmail, via POP (let's say you're lazy and don't want to download local then upload via IMAP) you can't.

Because a company so "security conscious" as Apple only allows cleartext POP3 on port 110. No port 995, no SSL, and the support staff tells you they are unaware of how to migrate email from Gmail and that they support all standard POP hosts.

I'm sorry, but when I read that in the support chat interface, I was this close to start cursing but I realized it wasn't the guy's fault that company policy in this regard is crap.

But true, anyone with Exchange or ActiveSync can support the same features on an iPhone.

I know a lot of people love free but I'm a big fain of paying for my email accounts and data hosting. I believe in that "you get what you pay for" saying.

Mobile Me however is one of the things I'm finding isn't worth it right now because it doesn't support bringing one's own domain to it. I mean, I love iPhone sync and stuff, but not being able to bring my own domain to it is really crap, as is the speed of iDisk when you're not in the US.

I've tried the wipe method repeatedly, even went so far as to wipe, wait 24 hours, delete any stray contacts created automatically, then delete every one of those contacts and then sync 8 hours later (no emails in my sleep).

Still goes bad. Side note: it works better with OS 10.5, because there it doesn't try to sync everything and it really does work. It works as bad as I said only on 10.6 (all minor versions tested - I kept hoping the darn Nickname sync issue would go away at some point release).

I do admit that the Spanning Sync trial I used once may have done something to my Google Contacts at one point when I checked that it shouldn't sync Suggested Contacts, but I don't see why Google would let such a thing made via the API stick forever. (And Spanning Sync wasn't for me because of the whole "give us your password" thing.)

I've tried Spanning Sync but I wasn't comfortable with giving access to my Gmail password so I gave up on it really soon.

I've also tried soocial.com which I liked because it uses OAuth and I can always just revoke its access, but it sucked when it came to Prefixes and Suffixes. I have people in my address book who happen to be Jr. and Sr. or who happen to have the same name and one had no email and it mashed them up.

NuevaSync seems more focused on the mobile aspects of things and I'm really just interested in contact syncing with as few parties in between as possible. (paranoid)
