Based on the grammar and spelling mistakes in your post, I suspect that your written communication skills might be holding you back. It's quite easy to paste those paragraphs into ChatGPT and say "rewrite this." It will provide you with a clear and error-free version. I recommend doing this for every email you send. It can significantly increase the respect you receive from both your current coworkers and potential employers. Even though I have good grammar, I still use it for half the emails I send to see if they can be improved.

This is a slippery slope. These policies had a vast affect on the lives of millions of people. Business were shut down. Schools were closed. People were instructed to stay in their homes for years. Simply saying, "Well, we made our best guess," is absolutely not acceptable. When the government curbs human rights, they have an obligation to weigh and justify the costs with scientific evidence.

It's surprising to see gendered, pejorative language thrown around in an article that has nothing to do with gender.

If kids and young adults lose access to piracy they will develop other interest

Entertainment is a lot more fungible than these companies realize. Pour cold water on movies and people will watch TV. Dampen that and people will play video games. Make me hate Reddit and I'll go to youtube. Start forcing ads on youtube and I'll go to instagram. etc.

Dating sites can do a "DEI" and brute force more variety into skew percentages of click throughs through mere exposure effect.

Why stop at forcing people to choose different races? Let's force women to date men who are short, bald, unemployed or homeless. Let's force men to date women who are overweight, elderly and annoying. Let's take the 'market' out of the dating market.

To be fair, there are both positives and negatives. The positive is that the barrier of entry is almost negligible. For less than 20 bucks, anyone can get their song onto the largest platform in the world, accessible to anyone on it, in days. Compared to handing out CDs or cassettes, this is a universe of difference. You no longer have to pander to major record labels to get your music out there.

The downside, of course, is monetization. Even if you get a million streams, which is extremely difficult, you'll only make $4-7k.

From Wikipedia:

SLU-PP-332 is a compound which is a potent but non-selective estrogen-related receptor (ERR) agonist, acting most strongly at ERRα with an EC50 of 98 nM. It was found to counteract metabolic syndrome in mice, suggesting a possible role for compounds from this class as medications for the treatment of obesity.

I've been riding an electric unicycle for years and I don't think I've gotten a single negative comment, aside from riding somewhere (they thought) I shouldn't have. But those same comments would have been directed at a scooter or bike.

Typically when people marvel at my wheel, I tell them if they give me a few bowling pins I can juggle as well.

To be able to actually ride, it took me about two weeks, practicing 30 minutes per day. But then I was still pretty wobbly for a month or so.

Did you even read the article? The point was that it's a false dichotomy to say one side believed the science and the other side didn't. Just because someone questions a specific measure, doesn't mean they don't read the science that supports (or doesn't support) the measure. It means we need a more balanced approach that weighs the costs versus the benefits. That's a bigger-picture science than whether a measure does or doesn't reduce the spread.

I'm friendly with people at work but I tend to keep boundaries on what I share. I wouldn't, for instance, discuss a romantic problem with them but I would tell them what I did for fun over the weekend. When I was younger I was more open with friends at work about all sorts of things but it came back to bite me in the ass. People at work like to gossip about everything and everyone so I avoid telling people anything I wouldn't want to be public knowledge.

There are a multitude of supplements with clinical evidence to support their efficacy that are neither #1 nor #2. These include caffeine, ginseng, various vitamins, etc. If you go to examine.com, they analyze the strength of the studies and the effect size. Most won't have the effect size of prescription drugs but some are absolutely worth taking, particularly fish oil and vitamins like B and D.

Of course wealth is power. If you have 10 million dollars and I don't, you have more power than me. You can do many things I can't. But perhaps you did cancer research for 20 years and found a cure for cancer while I spent my money on vacations and partying. This incentive acted as it should. The world now has a cure for cancer. We can't now say that you should have the same wealth/power as me because power/wealth is bad.

As a society, we should prevent "escape capital" to be a thing.

Why, though? You always hear people say that one person having too much wealth is a problem but rarely hear a good reason. Just because one person is richer, does not mean another is poorer. Wealth is not a limited pie where everyone only gets one piece of it. Wealth is created. If one person's ideas and actions brings up the standard of living for everyone else, I'm fine with that person having more wealth.

it should be very hard to fire people

At will employment exists for good reason. You can quit your job at any time for any reason and your employer can fire you at any time for (almost) any reason. There are a very narrow set of circumstances for which your employer cannot fire you, and this is by design. The government should have as little control as possible over who you hire and fire and why.
