I hate it when someone says we'd like to fund more from a "minority" such as women or black people or XXX like YC has done in the past. What does this do?

1. For the minority this makes them feel like they "need help" and they are "not good enough" unless they are given an unfair advantage

2. For the majority, it makes them feel sidelined and at an unfair disadvantage when applying

YC needs to just promote entrepreneurship and not colour. For the record, I am a coloured man, unfortunately not black to be able to take advantage of this latest "minority giveaway"

You could have at least called the founder and asked what he meant, instead of bashing him here. You could have asked him to add more clarification in his blog which might have ensured that what your pointing to is not implied.

You guys are growing and its important to scale your communication as well.

It's like saying sex toys will eventually replace having sex because why waste time dating, courting and then having sex :) when you could just use a toy + redtube and get it over with in 10 minutes.

These are what I call "Get me some Press" companies from a VC / YC perspective. Will make the cover of WSJ ... get a ton of attention to the company and investors and eventually be dead in 3-4 years.

On April 15, we'll invite the groups that seem most promising to meet us in Mountain View between April 24 and 28 ----

-- This is too less time for companies based outside of the US to arrange cheap tickets, visas etc.

You should try to build own your video hosting site or SHUT UP. At least Youtube is free, the last time I checked F-Secure was not, so SHUT UP! or build your own :)

I figured the whole "be loyal to yourself" stuff almost in my first job when I was not allowed to rise up the ladder too quick as "more senior people" need to be promoted first. That day I decided my job will always be my plan B. I am happy to report now I run my own , very profitable business and have achieved financial freedom from JOBS and BOSSES

Don't get me wrong but this is the classic example of "following the herd" of current gen startups --- too much focus on pleasing investors, raising money, eventually realizing you've relinquished control == don't feel sense of ownership in the company, straying from the vision or not getting enough traction, founders breaking up and then the ship sinking!

The Wiki article lifted the code from Vivek's site (the author). This is how I solved the mystery:

http://cs.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Raw_socket&dif...

Do you see they mention a reference: http://security-freak.net/raw-sockets/raw-sockets.html which was later removed as the site is now down. Both the code + the reference was added by the same author on wikipedia on the same day in 2011.

A whois on Security-Freak.net gives me that Vivek is still the owner of the domain: http://whois.domaintools.com/security-freak.net

This matches the whois person for securitytube.net (OP's site) http://whois.domaintools.com/securitytube.net

Proof 2: Wayback machine:

Code: http://web.archive.org/web/20071219013022/http://www.securit...

The above C file is the exact same code posted in the Wiki article - in 2011 which was there on security-freak.net in 2007.

People at Yahoo need to "work" first to qualify for "remote work". I think this is the right direction. Get the team together, develop team spirit and then transform the company.

"I don't know if Nick succeeded, because in the middle of this I gave up and went to bed." - Not a good example to your holding companies :) What would happend if they all went to bed when something goes wrong :) Just kidding.
