I vehemently agree with this. Aside from a few parent comments on each thread, the comment threads are sure to have somebody being overly finicky about the minutia of another comment. Diction is important, yes, but an important tool to any conversation is understanding when NOT to correct somebody, or make them clarify their obvious statement. It's kind of like HN's much crueler version of a Reddit pun thread, with the notable exception that, as soon as I see one, I will immediately collapse the former.

Kevin Rose was an investor in Chomp, IIRC. Good for him.

Off the top of my head, things that this is lacking: velocity control for each pad, a way to zoom in on waveforms and chop up samples, maybe better loop controls, and the ability to export as .wav?

But suggestions aside, as a budding hip-hop producer/hacker, I had the idea to make this but never the skills/conviction. It made my day to see that this is something actually doable, and capable of being done well.

I might be enrolling at UIUC as an undergrad this fall. Could you spare a minute and tell me a little bit about the CS dept. and the school as a whole? Email's in my profile, if this isn't the right place to ask (sorry if I violated HNettiqute).

There's really so much to do that you can't do it in two weeks, but be sure to explore as much as you can. Careful with the food, though, some of it may not be so great for your stomach.

I'll attest to that, even though I live in the states. While this article I was proud of both the author and my own Indian heritage. Learning languages is a great thing to do, it's just a shame not all of us have the time to do it. Makes me sad that my high school was forced to cut Latin from the curriculum — it's a very interesting language to learn.

Unfortunately, he had to sell them later in his life, as he was going bankrupt.

I just read this book for the first time, in my American Literature class, and as my fellow peers read it, I heard them remark that Holden was "annoying and whiny."

Personally, having looked up a lot of the symbolism in the novel on my own, I truly enjoy <em>Catcher</em> and all the life lessons it teaches. I, at times, related to Holden, even through all his inconsistencies and flaws. It's an excellent book and I hope teachers understand how to teach it better at their "work"shops.

At least on OS X, this is faster than Firefox has ever been for me in the last 2-3 months. Switched back to Firefox over Safari.

T-Pain abuses it on every song he has. Kanye, personality issues aside, used it quite well for a change from his normal style of music. He's not the _worst_ culprit of using Auto-Tune and ruining music.

ESPN360 has been around for years, and I'm honestly surprised it's still running. ESPN is _the_ leader in sports, and I honestly don't know why they don't switch over to a Hulu-type thing, with free content + advertising (I'm sure they can get all their TV advertisers to switch over). I'd love to understand why because, aside from the fact that they themselves don't own sports teams, I don't get it. The day I can watch live sports online is the day I get rid of cable.

Also, Verizon paying for this really makes me excited for FiOS to hit my neighborhood.

I always get nervous when there's something wrong with Google, be it a minor issue or not, they just control too much information to be anything less than...well, perfect.

Well, they've certainly come a long way from the secret in-house site to this — looks promising, but relies on the willingness of developers.

I actually live near the Stress Factory and, small or not, it's actually a great place and pulls some big names ever so often — Chris Rock being one in recent memory, but Russell Peters is another who did a few shows there.

This guy really knows his stuff, and I'm curious to see how the energy distribution system he proposes will play out, if it (hopefully) is ever acted upon.

I'm in Pre-Calc H in high school, an my father has been out of work fo a few months, so money is tight. So while everybody has fancy 84s and 89s, I'm stuck with a school issue, really old and slow TI-83. Also, I want to get a computer science/ business degree when I go I college in 2.5 years; both math intensive degrees. Oh and my dream school is MIT haha. So yup I'd love an 89 - besides, I've been reading pstam.com for two years now ;)
