Looks like product names to me. It’s certainly confusing at least, which is an issue either way.

This is almost exactly what I said when I was asked to install end-to-end protection software into my laptop as a freelancer. I stood my ground and they understood. They initially said they would send me another laptop to work from, but eventually relented on the requirements altogether and just limited my access to customer data.

If the project is already in AWS then it has to be downloaded outside the network at least once. I think s3 is one of the cheapest methods to server files on aws. There is no benefit to a secondary service.

I have a similar issue.

On any portfolio site I've attempted to build, I really dislike using the word "I" (e.g. "I can help you build a website!").. but using "we" seems disingenuious. (e.g. "We can help you with your programming woes!").

Recently though, I'm leaning towards "we" because it's better business-speak, the "we" seems less risky, and it may not be factually incorrect if you ever outsource any work.

Generally, I tend to avoid writing copy that uses pronouns altogether.

I think there is an art to marrying the idea of billing hourly and fixed-price projects.

For me, projects are estimated and estimated are approved by the client. I will do my best to ensure work is completed within that time frame. However, if more work than estimated is required to complete a project, it is my responsibility to notify the client as soon as possible. I will provide an estimate for the time I believe necessary to complete the job, and the client will approve this new estimate. Me all agree to this up-front; it's in the Statement of Work. Always have a Statement of Work!

Yeah, this is what I suspect meetings about this product line were like too. Everyone's talking about the hardware, and everyone is pissed off what what the "software guys" want the hardware to do. "We have to support what?" "With how much memory?!" etc.

This is exactly what they should have done. Instead, they tied everything into their clunky UI.

The built-in Plex stuff is cool, but suffers all the same problems as the rest of the TV. People are better off with a dumb display + Apple TV.

Agreed! At the time, this TV was a great deal, even when compared to non-smart models. Now I'd gladly take the feature-hit to have a more responsive UI.

Solar still has a number of big draw-backs that need to be overcome (namely storage and time-to-recharge), but I suppose we have more time to work it out now. It's kind of a same, though.. I'm not sure the environment can tolerate much more burned fossil fuels.

Well, the USA hasn't been a beacon for great decision making in recent years. I feel as though oil-wars were fueled by other agendas outside of the simple need for crude. Also, look at alternative energy markets and how they've barely gained any traction outside of grass-roots until recently. There were even cables released on wikileaks showing that USA was supporting the International Renewable Energy Agency being hosted by the UAE (4th largest producer of oil). Counter-intuitive isn't even the word.

Without trying to sound like a foil-hat wearing loonie, I feel like this is the direction things will go, and the IMF (and related orgs) will welcome it.

This js simply binds an "KeyDown" event listener to the document. There are no actual input fields so an iOS device.. that's why you don't get a keyboard.
