Like all other tech it will paradoxically make people more productive and somehow less efficient. For programmers, we're all going to write more code with AI but somehow get as much done as the programmers pre-internet.

Before I had a desktop it was a balance of everything. Now it’s battery life for too priority. If I need more computation I’ll just ssh into my desktop.

I like JSON and CSV. JSON if I want to write code. CSV if I just want to analyze it with excel or gsheets

The biggest question I would have is: How good the customer support is?

I have the worst luck, and all my new age accounts like Robinhood and Coinbase have little to no customer support compared to the incumbents.

I got lucky and the Robinhood situation resolved itself but I've been trying for over a year to contact Coinbase and circle the drain. Hopefully Square has better support.

How open is this platform to custom peripherals (wifi/bluetooth) ones? I've always wanted a nice controller for robotics projects with a touchscreen. Right now it seems like most hobby projects use a laptop and ps4/xbox controller.

I've been testing out Neeva (Ad free, subscription based) since I got off the waitlist for testing. I was skeptical at first, but just from anecdotal experience I've had a more pleasant experience not dealing with Ads. I also have noticed I do less specific website searches as well, which is a proxy metric for better searches?

I got Solidworks (CAD program) running on a Windows ARM VM with 64bit X86 emulation on my M1 Macbook Pro and it's still as fast as my dedicated Windows laptop.

Some of that speaks to Solidworks performance in general, but I don't know how to make sense of this other than the virtualization on M1 Macs being so good it feels like magic. I don't know how I could recommend any other laptop in good conscious (Price to Performance). Happy to be kindly corrected in comments :)

If it could just port current CAD software, I would buy it in a heart beat. I don't want to have to learn new CAD software like Shapr.

Speaking from the experience of building drones, it's honestly black magic to me how they pull off their controls. I can't imagine kalman filtering yourself into such a great system as theirs. Unworldly.

Any reason why they can't access it from icloud backups?

Maybe go off historical data. If it's consistently off by a factor like 2-3x. Then take the prediction and just scale it?

This for me as well! I used to think that if I was inward-looking enough I could handle all of this myself. But outsourcing this kind of work to a professional has saved me so much time and trial&error with how to take care of my mental health.

Might be something as simple as the average engineer/maker/hacker has access to a car to play with but not a truck.
