I work in the quality assurance and testing department so I do not have access to production systems but I must admit it is a lot of fun using my own domain in testing. It is actually the registrar/hosting companies that have more power, the registry only acts on a domain is there is a clear case of malware hosting etc. or in case of a legal dispute. A domain holder cannot interact with the registry except by going through a registrar so we as a registry hardly ever interact with domain holders. So if I ever have a problem with my registrar I'm still pretty much on my own but at least I have a grasp on the code of conduct they have to follow :-)

the choice for EU was a simple one, since I live in Belgium I wanted either a .be or something more international. I choose .eu since I'm in Europe and not .com since it is not my commercial activity (I have other domains for that), .org on the other hand seems more for organisations and my blog is a one man operation :-) As an additional factor I have to admit to work for the .eu registry so of course I want to promote the .tld a bit but that was more a happy side effect, my business domain for example is a .be since I target small companies within my region.

Actually I had no idea this was 'not done', even though I do not get a lot of votes if I look at my statistics I have more then 1500 views coming from the different HN websites that remained on my website for longer than 10 seconds (all the others are simply not counted since I consider them not to read the blog anyways). I had read the posting guidelines and they make no mention of your comment so I invite others to come to your support, if any other users feel the same way you do then of course I will cease to post my own articles.

I would like to see this project, I hope that you have some kind of minimal install that can be extended on a 'need' basis. I'm getting tired of installs (e.g. Fedora, Ubuntu) where many things are standard installed even if you do not need them so currently I'm doing a LFS (linux from scratch) where I can decide what to install as applications etc. I also like a minimal use of resources so I have more at my disposal for actual work (that is what I liked about xubuntu and lubuntu) so I wonder how much CPU and momory all your 'beautiful' needs, I'm hoping not to much because I do like a nice looking desktop (even when I want it minimal)

indeed, 500 days without government and still no catastrophe in the country, perhaps governments are not so mandatory/important/needed after all, just image how much we are saving on wages for politicians ;-)

If we look at things realistically you are in fact correct, some companies have good layered security but for most security stinks and most of the measures they take are inefficient or not even working at all, this makes for fun discussions when I work for one of these companies as a consultant :-)
