You’ve described NAS in general. It’s more than just file system. Plex gives you Media Library indexing, web app, mobile and TV apps to play content from your NAS, from anywhere in the world (it even includes Relay, in case you don’t have public IP or accessing NAT traversal).

All that is true except almost no sunglasses made with the glass lenses. It’s almost all plastic with UV shielding layer.

It sounds completely surreal to have cameras and face id everywhere, but this is already done by our phones (face recognition) and GPS tracking, full surveillance of any messaging activity (with rare exceptions) for no good reason other than selling ads. Having less gun violence and deadly police interactions can actually use this technology for something better than just ads served by corporations (and also sell this data to anyone who pays). We should be careful about who can access these systems though.

It's interesting, since it could be very dry east, but it has most humid/rainy area in US (Hilo). One of the most fascinating islands in my opinion.

That's a barrier to entry that doesn't exist in the PC ecosystem.

Unless you're using some native language like C++ and cross-platform UI framework like QT or js/Electron you have even bigger diversity problem in the PC ecosystem. There are Windows (x86/arm), macOS (x86/arm), linux (variable desktop environments), Chrome OS, ...

You would need to provide builds for all the OS and hopefully also provide Store versions (Windows Store, AppStore, Snap)

Actually, that's not a half bad idea. If phone interview is passed, on-site time should be paid since the market is too hot. I wasted about 5 hours with Google (I did get an offer after the interview) but it was horrible experience (2019). Maybe if I was paid for that time I could at least justify this incredible time-waste. For example, companies do pay for people to fly-in for onsite interviews, so they do have budget for that.

UPD: I have provided negative feedback to my recruiter and they still reaching out to me. Really doubt companies ever act on any of candidate feedbacks since candidates are not employee (I know my previous company didn't, asking for feedback was just a "wanna look good in your eyes" question).

Perhaps offtop, Is there at least 1 browser for Android that supports per-page zoom? Safari does it on iOS with a super simple setting, but the only way to increase font size in ANY of Android browsers is to increase scale in Accessibility which will break some websites with larger fonts. I feel like this is super basic feature that I can't find.

This is amazing, happy to support! I have a question: when developing an app with strong privacy guarantees, how do you handle analytics and crash reporting? E.g what if some group of users gets some weird error in a use case, or what if the app crashes? How do you figure and fix such issues? Many thanks for the app!

I'm actually surprised by amount of hate to FAANG people here at HN. It's like each and every one of them contributed to each and every worst case that happened to the company. Many of us are actually doing things to change for better inside of the company. If you leave you can't fix things any more.

You're really referring to these generalization structures like Gervais principle which should be considered at least as a sarcasm? There is nothing wrong with people who care to work for companies Google, I know many and I'm one of them. Your comparison with Philip Morris is way off, Google produces so many things at once serving so many people and communities every day. Honestly, your comment reads as if it was written by burnt out corporate worker – very negative and arrogant.
