whats wrong with horizontal scroll? If a site has both horizontal and vertical scroll, the site looks messy! Horizontal scroll is also good to scroll pictures.

You should know how to draw things first before dwelling into maths. For eg, look at this one: https://github.com/MathiasPaumgarten/hair/blob/master/source... and check out drawFinger, its all about drawing an arc. Once you know basics, i think its matter of time that you can produce jaw dropping things like this. coming to maths that you need to learn: learn co-ordinate geometry for all 2d related stuff.

There is DTrace software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTrace) whose documentation also disappeared. My friend pointed out while exploring DTrace to profile ruby apps.

I believe HipChat has this concept of 'Guest Access'. Won't that be helpful, just curious.

talking about mobile space, i believe OpenGLES is used in embedded platforms instead of OpenGL, which is a stripped down version.

Talking about 'libraries vs frameworks', tenderlove spoke about frameworks providing bare-metal interfaces for libraries and let libraries implement those interfaces in whichever way they want. but its still not sure to what extent that would solve the problem. Recently, bare-metal queue implementation in Rails https://github.com/rails/rails/commit/adff4a706a5d7ad18ef053... has been discussed 'for and against' extensively.
